Had a client look up MFG/part from rack mounted 24port patch panel and question the price.
I resolved the issue but wondered if there was an easy way to remove the white print without affecting the black metal surface underneath?
I'm in the field, so I haven't tried anything yet.
If no-one knows, I'll try rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover, paint thinner, etc.

A Penny.

If the metal is painted, Chances are whatever chemical youuse to remove the silkscreening will remove the black paint as well. I've had real good luck rubbing off silk screen with a penny....

If it's black anodized use a little paint remover.

Have some "call 800-123-4567 for service" labels printed up and stick them over it.

Sometimes silk-screened labels are actually baked on, so a solvent won't do much of anything. The penny sounds like a crazy idea but a good one. They aren't as hard as steel, being mostly zinc, and if you're gentle you might get by without scratching the panel or even the overall surface paint.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Exactly. If it's baked on epoxy forget about removing. Otherwise, paint thinner works.

I like SnapAV parts because they don't plaster their name and parts all over.
MA is MSRP on everything, so that works as well.
I got some Leviton parts, and few others that I choose not to sell at HD prices and taking name and part# off suits me.
And yes, I do sell packages and not parts, but I also do enough of T&M jobs where I don't want to have to justify every purchase or explain that there is more to a part than just a lowest internet price (things like shipping, storage, bookkeeping, etc).
So yes, it some cases it's just easier to not get into that conversation altogether.

You just gave me an idea. I'll look at their patch panels when I get a chance.

Did you use them?
