I just got a used Marantz RC 9500 remote and am looking for someone to either help me customize it or do the customization for me. Are there any guys/gals on here that would be able & willing. Please send me a PM if you are interested. Thanks

The RC-9500 is a good unit for most basic systems and can work very well. I use one myself and have programmed around 300 of them. I can help you but I'm in Australia so it would have to be done via email. What do you want to control and how fancy do you need it to be graphically? Also do you have the RF receiver and if so which model?

Cheers
Simon.

I would estimate that programming this unit would cost $200 - $400 depending on your requirements. It would also require that your computer be compatible with the unit. As the unit is older it will not work with Vista or Windows 7 but works fine with XP. If this is a problem then you are better off with a newer version of remote. There are work arounds but for a single unit they are probably not worth while. Files can be sent to you as an executable file from the programmer but i'm not sure if this fixes the OS issue.

I have the RC 9500 w/ RF extender base & IR blasters. I have a laptop that still runs XP, so I think I am fine in that regard. Just not sure if it is worth it given the newer remotes...

My setup is pretty basic - 2 rooms : (1) family room & master bedroom. Family room has a Denon AVR, Panasonic Plasma, cable box, panasonic Bluray DVD, and a Wii. The bedroom has a Panasonic plasma, PS3, and a cablebox.

In terms of UI, I was just hoping to have the basic activities + favorite channels.

I just wish there were better instructions on programming and I would just do it myself. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide....

First things first, because of the undisclosed cable boxes with Favorites and being 2 zone i wouldn't do the programming for you without being on site, but if you are willing to have a go yourself then i could provide some help. Download the software (wizzit9) and have a play with it and see if you understand how it works. If you think you can get your head around it ok then i can email you a program that will go a long way toward becoming workable for your equipment. It already includes Panasonic TV and bluray as well as a couple of other devices. The AVR is Marantz but you can swap out the Marantz codes for Denon ones etc.
If you want to go down this path then email me at the address in my profile. It will take some effort from you but you can do what you want with the equipment you have.
I guarantee I'll tell you the truth and I guarantee I'll tell you what you need to know but I can't guarantee that I'll be telling you anything you want to hear.
