I knew this day was coming. Customer's old Apple tv finally died and he wants a new one. Problem is that his Apple tv was connected via component to Key Digital Fatboy Matrix. I can't be alone here, what are you guys using to convert hdmi to component video and analog audio...TIA

Upgrade to HDMI matrix. It's not your fault apple (and many others) are switching to HDMI only.

Worse case, the Apple TV is for only one video zone and then a source for DA.

It's not the customers fault either. Adding an HDMI matrix isn't the only thing needed. You then need to add HDMI to every TV you want to view the ATV. Now you need to change the control system to include the HDMI switch and changing tv's from component to HDMI and back depending on what's being viewed.

You also need an optical to analog convertor so the ATV can be tied into the DA.

Or you just get an HDFury and convert the HDMI to component and be done with it. I've used the HDFury 3 and never had a problem. I think I got mine for around $200. Mono has an HDMI to component for under $50, but I've never used it.
Who says you can't put 61" plasmas up on cantilever mounts using toggle bolts? <---Thanks Ernie ;)

I've used this exact piece and know others who have used it literally dozens of times with no issues. It's probably the best bang for the buck in this category. The HD Fury works well too but is significantly higher priced. I think you're paying for the name as much as anything else.

Be careful with these sorts of items. I have tested several brands and the majority of them shift the image to the left by a noticeable amount. The HDFury piece and an off-brand from Amazon were the only ones that didn't have this problem. I haven't tested the Conversions Technology piece yet but I have some in stock, just haven't had the chance to try it out yet. I assume there is no problem with it since it gets a lot of good reviews here.

that $40 one is also available from our friends at the discount house that has a name like "StereoCost" Change the words around a bit and you will understand what I mean.

It works, the picture is not perfect, but it works.

It has no brand name on it whatsoever, which I always thought was kind of strange. It works though, so I guess it's not really a big deal.
