Anybody familiar with Nexus TV lifts? They look awfully decent for the prices they are asking.

I have installed 3 flat screen on 3 different Nexus lifts that the clients cabinet maker supplied we had problems with all 3. There is to much side to side movement When the first one started to raise I thought it was a swivel lift and as the 42 inch Panasonic starts to raise you here the motor struggling

Hello Zinon,

I am Cory from Nexus 21. I am very sorry you had any kind of problem with our systems! Our goal with our products, of course, is to make your projects easier, not harder. I am disappointed to learn that we did not accomplish that for you, and if there is anything we can do to make it right for you, we absolutely will.

It is very uncommon to have technical problems with these lifts, and we pay a lot of attention when they do come up. I actually have never heard any of our motors struggle, even when we purposely overload them for testing, so of course I really want to learn more about what happened. Also, the side to side movement you experienced is out of the ordinary and I would like to get to the bottom of that as well.

We are very receptive to feedback. Some of our greatest product improvements have come from comments that we take from professionals like you, and we really care about making sure people are happy with us and with our systems. I hope you will contact me to tell me more about what happened, and again I am sorry for your inconvenience.

Thanks and Best Regards,
Cory Lovett

Nexus thanks for your reply. I checked out your stuff on YouTube. LOOKS pretty solid- the video of the lift with the attractive girl sitting on top (hey GOOD marketing!)... Anyway we will just be mounting small lightweight 32 inch panels on these so I'm hoping we'll be in good shape. Will most likely test bench one at the shop first though...

I just worked on one today for the first time. The unit did not supply the correct bolt depth for a samsung un40D6400. The bolts supplied were too short to thread. I opened another mount package from my truck, installed the longer bolt with spacers ... the spacers will not allow the tv to be mounted at the right height. The top won't close completely. MADDENING! Wasted another hour this week trying to make this work, and yet there will be a return trip.

I should clarify. User manual says to use the screws that came with the TV. Nexus, screws don't come attached to the back of most tvs anymore. If a manufacturer changes the depth, you should be aware of it and send the correct hardware. Or better yet, send more screw options with every unit.

I was just informed by a co-worker that we HAVE used the Nexus lifts before on a recent job!!! He was looking at a bid I'm doing calling out for two or three of them.
We used two of them recently and they worked very well. I told the installer about your experience and he said that the lifts use four big bolts at the base, and a lot of installers do not use the additional "collar" that secures the neck or vertical bar the lift slide up and down on (because they assume the four bolts at the bottom look stout enough) - but if you don't secure the neck rail assembly you will get some movement.
Bottom line, our PM & installer(s) said the mounts were really sloid and worked great especially being that they are about 1/2 price of most motorized mounts out there.

Stanley,
We Did not supply or install the Lifts so I cant comment on how they were installed. They were installed by the clients cabinet maker on the west cost and shipped to the east coast with all her furniture. I used a piece of 3/4 inch angle iron sprayed it with contact cement then covered it in black suede placed it in the rear corner of the opening so when the lift would raise and lower the corner of the lower part of the cabinet would ride inside the angle iron stabilizing it.
We did this install a few years ago . We were there last week to upgrade her DVD player and the lift is working.

To 24/7,

Thank you for sharing this feedback - we will definitely work on that.

We do realize that TV manufacturers do not supply, and have not supplied for a long time, screws in the mounting holes on the back of the TV. But we do say in our manual that the screws used to attach the base to the TV almost always will match the threads and depth of the metal inserts on the back of the TV. We are aware that on some very thin TV's this may no longer be the case. As the standard changes in the TV industry we will certainly adjust with it.

Regarding your challenge with not being able to mount the TV at the correct height - that's unusual. Can we help? I can have our product support team call you right away if you are still struggling with it.

We appreciate you working through it!

What app were you using? I couldn't tell if that was a Droid or iPhone...?

Thanks for sharing the video. Now you're famous!

I did one a year or so back and I'm about to do an other. Silent. Other than a manufacturing error where the relay board did not work and they called and sent an IR interface, the unit worked perfectly. They were not the first lift manufacturer to have an electronics package with issues and their did not fail. They were pro-active and supplied the part long before I had to code it.

The instructions are clear. The unit needs to be braced to avoid any "shimmy" or play as the pipe travels up and down.Setting limits was simple. Manual control was even simpler. I am about to do an other and I have no qualms. It will be a simple process--far simpler than most other lifts.
