Client has a PS3 in another area feeding his Elite plasma in the family room. PS3 is configured fine, works fine, except he bought this accessory kit that includes a mic/camera combo called a Play Station Move, and it connects to USB.

Needs to sit on TV but connect 30 feet away, no wall/ceiling/floor access.

Is there a wireless extender for USB?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

If you truly can't get a cat5 there...We used a Gefen EXT-WUSB once at about 15 feet, worked fine with no complaints from client. Gefen claims 100 feet but you know how that goes...I always divide claims like that by 3 for a more realistic expectation. At 30 feet you should be OK of course you'll never know with these products until you get it into the environment it will be used in. I'd check the specs on the PS3 accessory if it needs USB 2.0 and the speed required...see if that matches something like the EXT-WUSB and test it out.

I used this for an Xbox Kinect install. Worked perfectly. Its cheap and long and they claim you can connect up to four of them together and it will work. I have not tested that, but a single cable worked great.

Oops, didn't notice the no access part. I sorta skimmed over it. If you need to run a wire on a DIFFERENT job, that wire works well ;-)

I have a 25 foot male / female USB extension cable. I have tried it out on all kinds of things to see how it works. No issues at all. Works with XBOX 360 camera, wireless network adaptor, Kinect, USB hubs, etc...

A fairly cheap extension is your cheapest and easiest soluton. I have had great luck using long runs of certain types of cables. I bought a 30' HDMI to DVI with a DVI-M adaptor for my InFocus. I think I paid $25 for both. Flawless.

I don't even remember where I got my USB extention cable from, but it sure comes in handy sometimes.

Here is a FleaBay link: [Link: ebay.com]

Ships from China, but is cheap if you aren't in a huge hurry. This was the only 30' I came across.
