I'm always interested in looking at what's at woot.com, and I don't close my browser very often, so I've set woot.com as the home page for the browser. Then I at least see it whenever I open FireFox.

For the last several days, however, it's opened to the page I visit the most, not the site I've chosen as my home page (and clicked open to home page). The shiny spot in this is that this forum is the page I visit most, so it opens here.

Gee, maybe when Daniel changed my name, he somehow put a sticky in my browser....

Anybody have a clue how to change this?

edit: I just checked all the settings, and changed the "home page" to xkcd.com (which everyone should check out!). Then I closed FireFox and opened it again, and it opened to this forum.

Never mind. I remembered that I had set up several FireFox shortcuts, and the one in the bottom left of the screen (what's that area called?) somehow had this forum as a target. Hmmm. It didn't do this, last week....
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

lower left next to Start/Windows button:
Quick Launch(for XP)
Task Bar (for Vista/7)

So is the issue resolved? If Firefox is acting like a modern browser it may have several start up options - open to home page, open to most viewed, open to last opened tab(s). Check if something like that is your problem.

I know firefox just pushed out an update, maybe thats why 'All of a sudden' this is happening.

It's resolved.

I remember DOS, you see, and I use hot keys for about ten programs. That means I've gone into the screen icons and I've messed with the settings.

Frinstance, I've got one FireFox icon that opens up KKJZ. Two clicks on the screen, that's it. Another opens google mail, google calendar, and google contacts. Again, just two clicks. Another opens this site, but my main icon on the screen, which I had attached the hot key to, was set to open woot.com. Somehow the hot key got modified and went to the Quick Launch icon's home page.

It's working okay now, except for one weird thing -- before this happened, if I opened those three google windows, then clicked on the FireFox Quick Launch icon, a separate window opened. Now, the same thing adds a fourth window along with the three google windows. I don't want that, as I want to have the google stuff side by side with, say, some new contact I've found, so I can copy and paste info into Contacts without also clicking tabs.

Yeah, maybe an update changed this. I didn't notice it, and usually I'm the first little piggie to squeal when I have to stop work (or play) and wait for an update.
