Have a friend that has an old Toshiba RD-KX50su DVR that worked with his cable company and was wondering if it will work with Fios system? I haven't had a chance to get over there yet. The Fios installer told him he HAD to use a Fios box to get anything. Like I said I haven't been there to try it yet but just wanted to check if anyone has tried ANY type of DVR with Fios???? TIA

I have a client that uses a first generation TIVO HD dvr. Verizon supplied 2 "fios cards" for the Tivo. All has been fine.

TiVo is pretty much your only option. Unless there are other DVR's out there that are cable card compliant.
