I want to buy an AppleTV (v2) and have a few questions for you guys. I suspect I'll use AirPlay quite often as well as streaming iTunes from a PC. My setup includes an AVR with a 5.1 zone and a second zone.

1) AirPlay uses WiFi, correct? Solid WiFi on iPhone=steady AirPlay signal?

2) Do I want to get a decent standalone DAC to feed analog audio to my second zone, or do I want an AirPort Express? What are the pros and cons of each option?

3) How does sound quality compare between AirPlay, and say, a dock such as the Wadia 171iTransport or Cambridge Audio ID100?

4) The AppleTV sees an AirPort Express as a pair of speakers, so both zones would be controlled together via Remote on my iPhone, correct?

5) Anything I'm overlooking, or any suggestions? Our customers haven't asked for much Apple integration surprisingly, so I'm a little rusty. Thanks in advance!

Yes

Gefen makes a unit dd-2-aa works well.

I haven't really noticed much of a quality difference between the two but I never did any kind of serious comparison.

The Apple tv does not see an airport express as a speaker. Itunes sees both of these units and can use them as speakers.
5) Anything I'm overlooking, or any suggestions? Our customers haven't asked for much Apple integration surprisingly, so I'm a little rusty. Thanks in advance!
