So my wrap guy and my self are getting pretty frustrated, this has been 3 months of meetings, going back and forth with emails and finally i think i am about to pull the trigger. Would like your opinions once again. i am 98% on this design but cant quite put my finger on it. Im going for stupid simple, straight to the point with a bit of "design" [IMG] [/IMG] I think i am going to add another bullet, "Home Automation" or "One Touch remotes" i am going to have the green power button put back to gold and my website a tad smaller. Opinions/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I'm no expert at this stuff but I'll throw my .02 in since you asked.
Here are the things that I see.
1. I would remove the 1 from the phone number. If people don't understand "1" you probably don't want them as a customer :)
2. I would remove the (indoor/outdoor)
3. Maybe darken up the color of the lettering (rather than tan) it's difficult for me to read. (However, it is on a 17" screen).
Do you have lettering on the back? Maybe put the phone number on the back of the van, and make the other lettering bigger, easier for geezers like me to read.
Get some sweet spinning rims and some hydraulics in that rig and you're all set. :)

Thanks Hasbeen!
Yes, you are correct. The "1" will be removed :)
I suppose people are "dumb" enough to understand audio systems, I dont mean dumb in a derogatory term, my issue is over complicating things (which i did on my last van) i want it straight to the point. I guess if they cant assume i dont do outdoor systems then i dont want them lol
I am going to have the bulleted points darker like my phone number. BTW: it is impossible to tell on the screen but all the gold lettering is metallic lettering!

My question is why would you do a "wrap" for that design? You could do it for half of that if not less in straight vinyl, or be like me, I finally just bought a cutter for myself.
The only thing not possible on your design is the cables, but you could easily do just a stripe for it.
If you are doing a wrap, you can do SOOOOO much more than what you have there
I could literally do that (my cost) for under 120$ with 4 colors of vinyl and have barely touch the supplies I purchased for the job

Can I go off topic and ask you how you like the NV? I'm REALLY looking at them. I've helped the local dealership figure out how to break into the market and they've given me an INSANE deal on one with all the trimmings.

Who says you can't put 61" plasmas up on cantilever mounts using toggle bolts? <---Thanks Ernie ;) |

Just because he said his "wrap guy" doesn't mean it's a full wrap. You're reading too far between the lines.

Very true, although most "wraps" are full vehicles, otherwise its just a few "stickers for the truck" Most "wraps" are 1000-1500$, most vinyl jobs can be done for less than half, and still attractive and useful. Check out USCUTTER.com (or on ebay) then hit www.signwarehouse.com can get everything you need and keep your trucks/buildings/signs fresh without paying out a fortune

My first work vehicle was a full wrap, spent close to 4k for it. Didn't receive a single phone call or inquiry. As to not derail my Original Post, you can follow these to my original truck. Most here already know it. No, the bumper sticker was only on there for a few weeks ;) right click on the ? and follow the link. Im so numb to this now I totally forgot about that. Going through my photobucket pics i ran across my only three pics i have of my in between lemon of a truck. It totally slipped my mind what my bulleted list was. Which, for the record. I had a far better response to the simple lettering I did on this truck. I am going to remove energy management solutions and replace with "One Touch Remotes" [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] On August 16, 2011 at 23:15, cpchillin said...

I keep meaning to sit down, take pics and write a review for you guys. I just found out from a followup call from my dealer that i was the FIRST to take deliver of the NV in the US. Im going to sit down friday, take some pics and write a review. If they are giving you a crazy good deal then TAKE IT! you wont regret your decision one bit. I have the V6 2500 and get 19.5mpg and has plenty of power!

Ok suggestions I have for ya, the gold color is fine but will need a background color, maybe dark silver or (just something darker behind it) or just simplify it to something darker.
Got a Picture without the pics on it (some of us are crafty with photoshop)

The bullet points need to be darker. I would do them in purple. Maybe keep the bullet in gold or gold with a purple circle around it if you want. Or maybe do a drop color like with your logo where purple is under gold so that it stands out.
Lose the indoor outdoor. Or move the bullet points all the way to the front (left) edge of the door and put indoor outdoor on the same line as audio systems.
Center align the phone number, website and other text.
I would add in another bullet point or two to make the content on the door and the content to the right the same height. Not sure if i am explaining this well. What im saying is the top of first bullet point should be exactly the same height as the top of your phone number. The bottom of the last bullet point should be exactly the same height as the bottom of your web address.
This is a nit picky thing but IMO makes it look a lot better. That way you dont have to decide whether or not you want to center the 2 sides or top justify it etc. This may not be a big deal on a van but looking at this as a 2D graphic project i think it looks better to have them line up.

My lettering guy only uses 3M vinyl/printers/inks. I have seen budget wraps done where they started to fade after 6months/dont line up right. My truck looked as good as new for 2 years before i sold it. As much as i appreciate your willingness to DIY it, i have zero care in the world to do that. I cant even begin to get a bumper sticker straight let alone full lettering/logos. As many of us would say on here HIRE A PRO! my guy does top notch work and has a small fortune invested in printers/cutters etc. One layer is one thing, when you start layering graphics on top of each other is where it gets tricky and i dont understand it but he nails it every single time.

Awesome, thanks Stamp. I was already going to have him do the two color bullets. I also agree 100% about the lining them up, i think that was the 2% that was throwing me off of the design :)

Layering is pretty easy actually, especially when you learn that there are "alignment dots" you print (cut) and applications solutions that help you slide things around and get them straight before you really apply them.
I am sure you will end up with something you will be happy with!
