So my client wants to go with a 3D PJ in his basement. My client's Vutec supposedly would support active 3D but I wanted to know if any of you have any opinions pro or con with active or passive 3D...

Well, if you want true 3D, done the right way, like in the theater, Passive is the way to go. It dosen't hurt that that will start at about $50k.
