I only joined RTI a few years ago now, I know that they had many problems with WSOD/power supplies etc etc. But feel we came in at the right time, 2 way drivers being developed, great processors and obviously the promise of an iApp.
For those few years I have waited for products to come out and watch the deadline pass continually. But In my humble opinion every product I have got from them has worked great my customers like it and I have less and less service calls, I feel like for once I am finishing jobs as well. Our previous company we worked with (and unfortunately still have to maintain) came out with so many updates and I was finding bugs left right and centre, and still to this day a couple jobs lay unfinished as the system has always been buggy (giving it to the company they are still helping to their best)
So I don't mind if it's a year late, at least that's not a year of guinea pig testing for the company on live sites, causing great amount of stress and time loss. If course I have had the odd remote stop working but this is electronics some die now some die later. (I still have an original Nintendo console that still works, my friend is on his 4th Xbox 360)
The iApp is only a game changer for RTI as long as when it is released it is as good as we all hoped.
And on the XP2XP driver, it was a life saver on 1 job, works fantastically and the system could not of worked without Terry's driver, Highly recommend the driver and the programmer.

I have clients sitting on IntelliControls and Prontos that simply will not budge until iDevice full system control is available to them. They have been as patient as us for RTI to fulfill their offering.
Survived a ton of issues, ~97% covered by warranty and got loaners to ease the suffering (which make great employee/friends/family gifts after a year or so in service).
Really want to jump on the Crestron and Savant trains, but too nervous about buy ins and annual requirements. Not to mention have close by frienemies we could pull in for those offerings if the client needs are greater than what RTI can deliver- but that almost never happens.

if RTI would swap there f-ing channel and volume buttons back around, i might consider using them for my simple less than Prodigy systems. I loved RTI for many years, made a decent amount of money with them until the T2C charging and white screen issues killed me. i wrote them off and havnt looked back. if i were to give them a second chance, they would have to fix the RIDICULOUS, LUDICROUS vol and ch button placement. I never had one client that didnt comment about it.

Im also in the same boat - We started using them as our only control option about 2yrs ago. So we where not around when all the hardware issues where going down. We would have prob. left as well! I can really understand why the x-dealers are pissed and always comment on how bad they are or saying F-em, esp. on IP! On IP, RTI is like a bad word there ! We really had never any issues, the clients love the look of all there remotes (expect the brick t4), and there IW are rock solid and ID is great to program in. You are not limited to your design. These are some of the reasons why we went with them over URC. Yea there are real dam late to the iOS scene, but better late then never.. Does URC have a iOS solution yet?

I'll second about the app store approval. That doesn't mean anything. We could still be talking about this in November. Guess you don't need to worry about that anymore: [Link: itunes.apple.com]Bruce

I have been playing around with RTI 8.2 and the iPad... very cool. The changes you make on a portrait page are automatically carried over to the same buttons on landscape ad vice versa. You do have to organize everything before hand if you are copytng and pasting buttons as each one is given a unique identity by ID.
If you are creating a custom GUI, you have to pay attention to what you are doing but this seems to be the coolest solution I have seen to eliminate programming each page (portrait & landscape) for a source two times. There are a few glitches when moving buttons around, but nothing major.

I think this RTI iPad app really is game changing for those of us who switched from RTI to Crestron Prodigy. Thought RTI was getting really behind without iPad but when programming with System Builder I often wish I could just program Prodigy like I do an RTI system. Can't wait to try RTI again.
Did someone mention there is an XP3 out? What is the retail on that and has it been released?
What the pricing on an ipad license?

What the pricing on an ipad license? XP3 and the T2C's+ are on the latest ID8.2 so one would guess soon. RTI has never released software capable of programming new equipment unless they are very close. The T2C's+ will be the same as the previous model but with zigbee and no more snap-to grid. Fully customizable. I believe RTI's iPhone app is the same as Crestron's iPad app (so I've been told). RTI's iPad app is $50 more. I don't want to discuss retail prices because these costs are for the license and not the app. The app is free and I'm sure most dealers will add something onto that. A big thing to know is that the license ties itself to the iDevice. So if you have two iPads and one license you'll need to reset the processor in order to free up the license for the other device. So really you should have a license for every device. I think a lot of people are hoping RTI will come up with a unlimited plan so you pay a certain amount for unlimited iDevices and Virtual Panels. Only time will tell but for now the App is really sweet!

I wish the slots would pay out 200:1 consistently, but realize that would be a terrible business model for the house and would end up with them literally folding almost immediately.

If you can't use two iDevices at once on the same processor that could be a problem.

Who says you can't put 61" plasmas up on cantilever mounts using toggle bolts? <---Thanks Ernie ;) |

Anyone up for Frisbee Golf? I now almost have enough dead T4's to get a nice game going, might be therapeutic to hurl one of them 50 yards :)
