In their defense, the remote control business is in the crapper and they probably don't have the income to do everything they have promised. It's a nasty problem but their not in a position to publicly announce their internal issues. Moreover, the remote business is a moving target that requires constant innovation. This innovation and keeping up isn't easy for a small firm. (Or large one's either)

I whole heartedly agree with this but even when things were better there was the same disconnect.

This is the biggest [email protected]#t RTI does. There seems to be no leader or communication between their people and between their dealers. We were told the XP6 would be $799 now it's $599 and the iPad app was a different price then it turned out to be. They said the ST7 is being delayed because of retooling which you know is a crock of s#$t. I'm not complaining about the prices but more about their business practices. Where's Pro Control? It's like there is a lot of people running around with their heads cut off over it's very strange.

I do like their remotes though.

Meh, details :)

A friend of a friend went to see a man about a horse, and he said that when and if Pro Control hits, you guys (you guys meaning much larger, smarter custom business guys than I) will not want to be anywhere near it...

I did just buy a Touch this week in anticipation of the app, so I'm hoping....

Disagree, I want an inexpensive solution that any tech can set up and program.

I also would like an inexpensive option, however it may have to be a T1B with an XP3. ...Teach a man ID and he can program forever...

I've seen the RTiPanel, and i believe it will change the game. XP-6 is incredible, and i hope XP3 is the same.

Excited!

Change the game? Which game? The only game it might change is RTI' game.

I do agree....their business practice for some things is bad. I got banned from the forum, I can still view it...I have been doing RTI for years now and could provide some help to new dealers over there. I asked them a few weeks ago to be allowed back (no dice). I guess the engineers are still upset over the Ipad app comments. RTI told me the engineers decide who stays or goes. I've told them before it wouldn't be so bad if they just communicated with their dealers.

I guess they still don't have their "big boy pants yet"

iPad app or not rti is still my favorite control system . I have dealt with every system out there . There are so many pain in the butt features with other systems . Some systems don't have good remote control and they want u to do use there on screen menu's .I want custom graphic for my remote so they can a thumbs up or thumbs down button for tivo's. Which some system can't do . And the only thing else this crestron , which a great system but a lot more money and if you don't know how to program it your at the merce of you caip. the feature I want the most from rti is the ability for the processors to be able to talk to each other over network. There are so many cool things I can,t program the system to do with out this feature.

I don't thinks it's as much a case of what was said as much as how it was said.

Have you tried Terry Coupe's XP to XP driver? I personally haven't but I've heard good things. I too believe RTI is severely missing the boat on this. This would be a huge feature to have a master/slave processor configuration similar to Elan. The master would hold all of the system macros and the slaves would simply allow additional two-way communication or other control options.

I think RTI will slowly gain dealers back but will be held back until they figure out how to improve their business model. They also need to find some additional investors. Take a page from C4 and how they went from the laughing stock of the industry to a respectable top 3 control solution.

I will check out that driver tomorrow , is it on the rti site ? I want the driver so if I use multi-room product like nuvo , i can tell the processor commands and so the multi room and video work better together . Plus there is some stuff if there is a power loss it can clear flags on the processors. I think c4 is a great product but how can you use the hard button remote with a TiVo . My customer are not going to remember yellow button is one thing and blue is other .

I think rti really only screw up was , when 8.0 was released and there bugs and drivers that crashed the system , playing dumb and telling me it was my programing . And after I called everyday for 2 weeks to get answers on the last day say we have an update coming to fix a few bugs . There knew there were problem . Plus the white screen thing is kinda a pain in the ass .

Yes. The WSOD is still a pain in the ass.

I may have a slightly different take on this.

I have spent countless hours investing time and money in their products. I have configured a business model for me, which makes money. I will continue to put up with the crap, simply because when provided (by them, to me) with proper, working products, customers are happy, and I am paid.

That simple.

I know that these additional products, although delayed (being polite), will fill some holes in my sales lineup.

Regarding the iPad app, I was able to feel it, see it, and work with it recently. It sat in my hands, connected to a fully operational home automation system and had fluid and lightning fast 2-way communication.

All communication was over 3G, not WiFi.

I am impressed.

Although the apparent lack of corporate communication, and the absence of product at deadlines, I was very happy to see the product work SO WELL, I almost felt kind of OK for waiting.

Guess we will just have to wait and see how this plays out.  I hope it's not another 3 months away.

You do realize that i-Phone/i-pad apps for control systems have been out for years now, don't you?? This is not a game changer...
