Not Gingerbread but still good. Improves battery life according to some friends at Verizon.

I went out with a friend last night... I know my battery needs to be replaced (already), but he walked out of his car with his new iPhone at 100% battery and my EVO at about 70%.

When we got back to the car after a few hours, he was at 92% and I was at 8%. And I had tweaked my brightness down, disconnected data off and on, turned off all auto-syncing, etc. We were both texting, taking pics and videos, posting on facebook, etc.

Getting a new battery this week. Let's see if it's a drastic difference or not. Can't remember this thing ever having great battery life............

edit - and my 4,000th post is bitching about Android. Nice. Glad I'm such a quality contributor. :)

It pisses me off that this is what I had to do to get my Thunderbolt to last past noon, but this is what did it for me. I downloaded an app called LTE On/Off. This allows you to turn off 4G, and run in 3G instead. With the 4G turned off, my phone will last till I plug it in at night around 11:00 pm, and it has typically at least a quarter battery left. It sucks because I AM in a 4G area 95% of the time, but it eats the battery something fierce. Try it out and you should see MUCH better battery performance.

If you do decide to download the app, open it up and scroll down. Select CDMA auto (PRL) for 3G only. CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto is 3G and 4G. Just exit the app once you make your selection.

can't believe the iPhone doesn't have 4G yet!! it sounds so awesome!
as long as you have a charger strapped to it of course.

4G will seriously be awesome when it comes out on the iPhone because they will compromise less to get it on there.

also for anyone talking about LTE On/Off you dont need the app if you are using the newest update..

settings - wireless and networks - mobile networks - Networking Mode - you can select between LTE and CDMA right in Android.. no need for the 3rd party app
