I will be replacing a customer's old NuTone IM-4006 7 station system (like so many before me!) with a M&S DMC1 system using retro plates. I don't mind using the retrofit plate for the master unit because I will use the extra space to surface mount a MP3 player and a Satellite radio player thru the aux & CD inputs.
But my question is: is there any reason to try to keep existing Nutone D-35581 stations with their 8" speakers? Just modify it, replacing the electronic controls - keeping the 8" speakers and (ugly) wood grain face place. Are the spkrs that come with the M&S DMC1RS stations as good or better than the old NuTone 8" spkrs? That, and not having to use the retro plates or plaster/wallpaper repair would be the only advantage to going to this extra effort.
Thanks for your input....
