We are trying to finish a protect that its taking 3 days longer than proposed. I'm frustrated and probably missing something obvious.

Denon 2312 in a rack with a Samsung bd6500 bluray going to a 55" Samsung led over about 40 feet of cat 5 with a snap single cat balun. Everything works great but when I put in a 3d disc it tells me the display is not capable. It is the 5900 series led and is 3d. In fact 3d works if I take the player to the display. It does not work if I connect direct to the balun (bypassing the receiver). Has to be a balun issue.

I am going to terminate my ends again tomorrow but I can imagine its a termination issue.

All equipment including balun is 3d capable.

I an having the exact same problem in the family room of the same house with the exact save gear. Longer cat run and 64" 3d plasma.

Cable from bray is 6 feet to receiver. Balun ends have 3 foot cables. Cables are 1.4.

Ideas?

What brand are the baluns?

Have you used this same brand/model before and been successful in getting them to pass 3D? Just because the box says it will work doesn't mean it will work. :)

As the thread says, its a snap single cat balun.

It better do what the spec sheet says it can.

I dont do a lot of 3d tv and haven't used these for 3d but have used them successfully on numerous other projects.

I was reading that yesterday. Thanks for the link. Is 1080p 60 required for 3d?

Blu-ray 3D is currently 1080P24. It isn't currently in the spec for Blu-ray for 1080P60 3D, although HDMI is capable of that. Some HTPCs will be able to do this and need greater bandwidth than the Snap Balun. I'm not sure if any HTPCs do this yet. It is a limitation of the HDMI chips and I'm not sure if any that can do this are shipping yet.

Snap says turning the transmitter mode to position 6 WILL solve the issue. I'll report back.
