I would say no based on the specs, but I was able to pass 1080P 3D from a Samsung 3D BDP to a Samsung 8000 series 3D LED display through an old Marantz SR4001. I believe it was an HDMI 1.1 model. I had to use toslink for audio, but the video was fine. We upgraded the client to a newer AVR a few months later, but he reported no issues in between. We were also using a SNAP AV HDMI over 5-coax extender using his existing miniRGBHV cable.

I would tell the customer that the specs don't support it, but with HDMI, it is possible that it may work, the only way to know is to try.
