I have a setup using a grandbeing 4x2 hdmi matrix switcher/extender with a 10m hdmi/IR extension and and 30m hdmi/IR extension over dual Cact6 UTP.

The HDMI switcher/Extender works well for HDMI over both the 10m and 30m links and the 3 sources we are using (Astone 110D media Player, Foxtel HDIQ cable box and windows 7 mini itx PC)

I have 2 main issues - poor IR functionality at distance with the Foxtel box and slow fluttering of volume over the HDMI extension links.

The IR extension works very well for both the IR receiver side and IR emitter side for a Astone 110D media player. The remote can be used at a distance of over 15 feet from IR receiver used by the HDMI extender. It fact it works much better than the 110D and its remote without the extension (the box is very picky about having the remote pointed directly at its ir receiver with little angular latitude but as the granbeing IR extension emitter is stuck direcly over the 110D receiver, it works great).

The IR extension works well for the Foxtel box if the remote is within 5 feet of the receiver but wont work further away. Without the extension, the remote and the IQ box work flawlessly from a great distance (> 20 feet). I have tried other (learning) remotes but they are worse than the Foxtel remote. I would like to improve the distance form which the remote works but I don't know what approach to take. I don't know if it is a problem with the GrandBeing IR Receiver, the Grandbeing IR emitter on the other end, limitations with the encoding over the Cat6 UTP or fundamental issues with how Foxtel encodes its IR (I understand many people have issues with foxtel remote IR).

The other issues is that the sound volume slowly rises and falls over a multi minute period while using the HDMI extension. I have no idea what approach to take here either.

The Australia distributor has been unable to assist with either of these issues and has requested assistance from Grandbeing but as yet I have no seen any commentary from the manufacture.

I know I can try other manufactures but will they be any better ?

Any help, thoughts would be appreciated.

Shaun

Where are you? If you're in Hong Kong, if you're in Sweden, if you're in the US, the answers will be different... I'm guessing that you're in Australia, though, meaning yet more differenter.

Are any of you Aussies here at remotecentral familiar with these goodies?

Reminds me of good old Charlemagne. "Charle" is similar to our Charles and German Karl, which is related to Kerl, meaning "fellow." Charlemagne, slightly loosely translated, is "big boy" or "big fella." Grandbeing.

Maybe they couldn't bring themselves to actually use the original name, Grandbeijing, so they took out a "ji."
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Who did you get the gear from?
Wireless speakers? Of course Sir. Choose the colour and size you like. As you don't seem to think sound quality is important, I will not plug them in.

Shaun, two things that may help.
Firstly, what wiring configuration are you using for the Cat6? It probably should be 568B not 568A, this could make a whole lot of difference!

Secondly, where have you placed the emitter on the IQ2 box? If it's directly over the IR window, that could be the problem! Move it about 8 to 10 mm to the RIGHT of the edge of the IR window, it should almost be midpoint between the IR window and the 'display wheel'. Doesn't make sense but it's likely to fix the problem.
