I don't like Denon. Even though I can figure out the strange nomenclature and menus, that doesn't mean the average person can. Plus they generate unnecessary service calls. As an example the whole Z2 rec out deal. Why is this a feature? I want Z2 to always work, no matter what. I also prefer the aesthetics of the Integra. For these reasons I say Integra.

The Z2 Rec out is only on some models not all and especially not on the 4311. That has true Z2 out. The airplay feature on the Denon is extremely easy to use especially if you use their free app which is seamless.

This whole airplay selling point has me very confused. Can't any receiver easily be airplay ready by connecting a $99 airport express to it? In addition won't that give you added ability to stream iTunes, etc. ? The way Apple changes things up I would rather get something external than internal. I think Denon and Integra are pretty much toss-ups at this level, but I certainly won't use airplay as a sway factor. When devices like this are so close in specs I look to control ability, heat factors, and even simple looks. I find Integra IP/IR/RS-232 to be a bit more consistant from model to model. While the Integra might have a bit more power I think the Denon may sound a little better in my opionion, but not much better. If you have never used Denon before you will find it more difficult to get used to than the Integra.

Sure but the whole point of a receiver is to have everything integrated. The best combination IMO is having all the features built in with a decent amp section and good control for integration.

Regarding power, I did a quick glance for bench tests on one of the HT rags. Not all current but at least tested and reviewed in the same manner by the same person.

Marantz SR7005, rated at 125 watts:
Seven channels driven continuously into 8-ohm loads:
0.1% distortion at 74.6 watts
1% distortion at 89.6 watts

Integra DTR 50.2, rated at 135 watts.
Seven channels driven continuously into 8-ohm loads:
0.1% distortion at 107.5 watts
1% distortion at 127.7 watts

Denon 4310, rated at 130 watts.
Seven channels driven continuously into 8-ohm loads:
0.1% distortion at 104.6 watts
1% distortion at 116.6 watts

I would choose the Denon!

I have over 3500 in the field and rarely have any kind of problem.
The Denons I replace are to upgrade them.

The Onkyos & Integras I replace are because they cooked themselves. Don't get me wrong, they are great receivers but they run hot. Heat robs power.

The Harman Kardons I replace are because somebody breathed hot air on them.
Again, Great receiver in the right situation. Sound quality is amazing.

WOW!

Thanks for all of the great feedback. As I thought it sounds like both are great choices so its really about comfort. I was very pleased with my Denon so I think I am going to just stay with Denon. Do you think the AVR 4311ci is an equal replacement to the AVR3808ci?

Thanks

I would say that it would be a step up from the 3808 both in features and performance. Go for it. :)

And from a business point, integra is not sold in every corner stores...

That's reason number one in my book.

I believe the 4311 is the 3808 in the new models. Correct me if I'm wrong.
