I am in the unfortunate position of have having to replace my personal receiver (Denon AVR3808ci) due to a power surge. I am certain the surge came in through the cable line and bypassed my surge protector via my Linksys Ethernet over power-line that I used to get my internet connection from my modem upstairs to my A/V gear downstairs. Luckily my home owner's is going to cover the unit.

I am looking at the Denon AVR4311ci as a direct replacement however I am also looking at the Integra DTR70.2. I have no experience with Integra so I am turning to you for your opinions. I was happy with my Denon but would happily go with the Integra if it makes sense to do so. Both of the models I am looking at are in the $2000 retail range.

Thanks for your thoughts,

Integra! Denon would be my last choice ever...

Try it, you will be amazed. Even the DTR-30.3 will perform way better than the 4311CI

A lot more power, a lot better sound, all the custom integration feature you need, 3 year warranty, a much better remote control, even though you will probably use a third party remote...

Integra is the best option. Just try it...

Really?
Both are rated for 140 watts, both are 9 channels and 2 subs, both have a 3 year warranty, both allow for lots of control, denon has airplay and doesn't run as hot....what else?

Put them side by side and try both. You will answer the question by yourself.

Play a movie and crank up the volume. Integra has WAY much power reserve. Much more details in loud scenes.

Integra has 4 zones vs 3, one more trigger, one more ir input. He is stable at 4 ohms.

Spec wise they look similar. But there is a world between them.

Over the past few years i've personnaly replaced at least three dozens of denon receiver by integra. Never any of those customers looked back.

And from a business point, integra is not sold in every corner stores...

I don't like Denon. Even though I can figure out the strange nomenclature and menus, that doesn't mean the average person can. Plus they generate unnecessary service calls. As an example the whole Z2 rec out deal. Why is this a feature? I want Z2 to always work, no matter what. I also prefer the aesthetics of the Integra. For these reasons I say Integra.

I still like the Denon products but I think I would have to choose Integra most of the time if I had to choose between the 2.

They are way easier to set up and configure than the Denons, at least for me. I normally find myself setting them up via the front panel in the field.

They will also have Airplay shortly, via an outboard black box that uses the Universal Port. ;)

They do run a bit hot, but as long as you have planned accordingly, it should not be an issue.

I have honestly never compared a Denon to an Integra side by side for sound differences. I probably should.

Either receiver is great. No real wrong choice between the 2. :)

I totally agree with this. In fact, by the time the Denon trainer was going to be in my area, he wanted to beat me up for all the (accurate) bad-mouthing I was giving Denon.

HOWEVER, a friend who designs speakers did some equipment listening and came to the conclusion that the Integra 40.2 was the right item for this guy's level of system and sounded better than the comparable Yamaha and Denon.

So he bought it. Wow. No display AT ALL of zone 2 info, not even temporary display of changing volume from the remote! You get a display if you push the little zone 2 volume up and down buttons on the display, right where the maid will clean the volume up or down about 10 dB if the unit happens to be on....

Other things about the unit and its remote are pretty squirrely. Hell, I'd go with Yamaha.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
