A client wants to get his projector out of a cabinet and into a hanging mount; the result is a ten foot move that requires about fifty feet of cable to make the connection.

Is there a wireless HDMI link? That you've used?

His sources are DirecTV and Sony Blu-ray, his receiver a 2000ish Denon (without HDMI), his projector a Panasonic PT-AE3000.

This change started when the Pana projector suddenly decided that the ventilation it had lived in for more than a year suddenly was not enough. Yes, the filter needed cleaning, but even after that, it has shut off a few times due to overheating. I've got plans to pump up the ventilation, but he's asked me to hold off on spending his money on that until we figure out whether it's worth moving the projector. I want to avoid the super-long HDMI run, and he wants the projector to look as subtle as it can -- which it won't, as we're looking to pole-mount it -- so I don't want additional chassis up there. Hmmmm, it'll be either some kind of RF receiver chassis or a balun....

The screen is a manual roll-down, indicative of his thoughts about budget when we first did the system.

Any good ideas out there? I'd appreciate them.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Wireless HDMI to stream FullHD content ?

I don't think so.

A HDMI ovet UTP solution would be far more reliable.

Just my 2 cents.

Do recall that a wireless hdmi device on the receiving end is going to have a larger foot print than a paperback book.

Gefen makes a HDMI wireless device. Although, I have no experience with it.

Okay, Fred. And will require a second power outlet, too. But WHICH wireless device are you thinking of?

Don't hit me for suggesting a private label BBY product but this one got good write-ups when it came out: :)

You can search to find the reviews and such. There was some limitation but I don't recall what it was.

The Gefen piece is expensive butworks fine. We have a couple on the field. I would also suggest this kit:

We have a couple sold and it work great. There is a little bit of compression in the picture, but nothing that affect the average eye. There is also a pro version, that i didn't use yet, that do not compress the signal...

andrew -- that because a piece of rice paper in between will kill the RF, or is it IR? Will a person walking between the two halves, when they're ten feet apart, kill the signal? Do we have to get a shorter dog?
