I am new to programing this remote. I have used URC software to program MX-900 a couple of times but have never touched a 450 beore this week. I have a Denon AVR591,Samsung BD 5500,Samsung 60" smart tv and ATT uverse box in one location. A Denon AVR791,Samsung BD 5500,Vizio 55" with enet,ATT uverse and an Xbox in a different location. Both areas are using MRF 360's. Any help with setting up ON/OFF macro would really be appreciated.

Locate the discrete power codes and pile 'em up. Put enough delay in there so that the device will be ready to get an input command before you send it.

What, other than that, are you having problems with?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

My advice would be to upgrade to an 880 and dump the vizio.

Probably not what you want to hear but adjusting macros and fine tuning is a nightmare without software. You are better off not making money on the remote than wasting time and referrals trying to get that right. Plus if you get in a jam with the 880 you can find someone to help remotely.

Other than that we need more info on where you are stuck.

I would probably not suggest doing that setup with a 450 but I also know what it is like to be an installer and be stuck with what the salesman sold them.

Everything you listed should have discrete commands save maybe the Vizio. I would just put a TV power on/off button on the activity page and instruct them to turn the tv on and then select their activity for that system.

You didn't mention if there were 2 450's, one for each location, or one for both. If using one remote for both you are going to have to get creative with your ir routing or assign each base to a different RF ID and then assign the components to the RF ID's individually.

Don't forget you can learn commands in from a better remote if you can't find a certain command in the 450.

It is possible to do what you are looking to do with the 450 but it will probably be more work and harder for the customer to use then just stepping up to a software remote and I would suggest the 980 over the 880 but that's just my 2 cents
One thing I have learned in this industry. It is easier to pull a wire than it is to push one.

It sounds from the OP that he may be thinking the 450 is a software remote? It isn't. Internal programming only, no software.

When I was using a lot of 350s, we would just make a big on macro to turn everything on, no matter the activity, then choose DVD etc, to get control of that device. Punch through for volume etc.

Not elegant, but mostly worked everytime, as long as there were discreets. Then a big off macro that turned everything off.

We create the on button to do an all on macro because it looks like you don't have discrete codes for all your devices. have the on button jump to main page.

teach your customer to press the on button to turn system on then create macros on page 1 to direct them where they want to go.

make a off macro inside each device off button to turn system off.

or put in an 880 and fix your headache.

I always program the 450's with my laptop and CCP so that I can quickly look up the codes that have discretes.

He has a very special version of CCP only available to him. That combined with his custom programming port on the 450 has world class CI written all over it.

I'm assuming he means he has his CCP open to look for discreet codesets he can search for on the MX450 when he is programming.

Shhh, don't share my secrets please. Next, you'll want a copy of my craigslist ad.

goldenzrule nailed it. Have CCP open so you can figure out what the discrete codes are for the device you are programming, then use the code for that device (from CCP) in the MX-450.

Yep. It's a huge time saver.

it also helps to have a remote handy that you can use to teach imported hex codes into the mx450.

No need for discretes. Just have the client Power ON the system (which will turn on the Vizio and the receiver) and the individual activity buttons will just send a power command to the receiver for good measure, change inputs and turn on any other non-TOAD devices. Not exactly the ideal type of setup, but then again neither is a VIZIO.
