We have a client that this set fits perfectly for size and the price is attractive.

I was originally recommending the 65" Samsung LED but since this would fit I wanted to give it a second look. Not to mention a shortage of 65" LEDs from Samsung.

BB site has mixed reviews. The guys that seemed more "in the know" gave it awful reviews.

Any field experience?

No field experience, but I went to Best Buy to see one a couple of weeks ago as I wanted to check it out before recommending for a job. It looked terrible out of the box (no big surprise there), but after a couple of minutes with the video and option settings, I had it looking more than acceptable for the average client. All of the LEDs are getting much better, but there is still nothing like a good plasma.

I haven't seen the 70" (or any of the 732/5 series sharps yet), but the 835 series units look amazing and completely blow away all of the samsungs this year.

I have to agree! I think they look incredible and the price is just perfect.
I was impressed with their sets at CES and in my opinion they made a great move with the strategy they are taking. I cant wait to see the Elite line.

That is not an issue (with that display or any other). Pixelation is caused by the compression artifacts of the source which works on the basis of dividing the screen into squares and compressing them independently. Too much compression and the block edges show. This is especially a problem with MPEG-2 used in broadcast TV. It is less of an issue in DVD because of hand tuning to dial it out. In Blu-ray, VC-1 and MPEG-4 AVC codecs use variable size blocks, more efficient compression and smaller blocks due to higher resolution so the problem is far, far less visible.

The bigger and sharper the display, the more you will see these source artifacts. One fix then is to put the display in some kind of cinema mode that turns down the sharpness and contrast both of which subjectively increase visibility of these blocks. Ultimately though, the client may be sitting too close to such a display.

It is atrocious, even with the processing turned off. Ridiculous artifacts with motion (doesn't look bad with slow-moving or still images). With that said, it is still an amazing deal for someone that wants a 70". "Sir, do you want a good 70" for 4K or a great 75" for 12K?" I'm sure that most normal humans that don't do this for a living would like it just fine.

We have a LC52LE835 in our branch and the thing looks amazing. I would put it up against any LED on the market right now IMO. For the money you can't beat it and dealers also have good margin in it now.

I checked out the 70" 732 and the motion artifacting is pretty visible and significant (but I guess thats the compromise you have to make with an entry level 70" with an MSRP of 3300). I was definitely disappointed when I saw it today. On the flipside the 60" 835 produces an absolutely gorgous picture. incredible depth, color and black level detail, and at 2700 MSRP I'd love to sell the TV all day long.

i installed 2 for the same customer last week. What can i say... two of them were cheaper that 1 Sammy 65'LED. They are bigger indeed, but no tv in the market has the slick design of the samsungs. the sharps are kind of thick comparing to the Samsungs, and the screen brightness is not so strong specially if they are in a room full of glass doors. Everything else is fine, RS232, web content, wifi built-in, discrete ir commands and a very complete menu.

Installed another one of these 70s last week. Looks nice. Client is very pleased. Better blacks than expected. Some yellow tint before adjusted but easily removed. Noticed motion wasn't great but the price was.

Only real downfall is its not as sexy as the samsung stuff or as thin. The back isn't flat either which can make for awkward mounting issues.

Please post which models everyone is talking about with the 70s. The 732 is only 120hz while the 734 is 240. Also there are models available through costco and sams club which are versions of the 732 so they are also 120hz. I am thinking that with anything that size, 120hz is going to look nasty.

This was the 732u. Looked nice. Then again most 240 stuff looks fake to me. I still like te Sammy stuff better but for the money its a tough sell.
