Wiring a new house for audio and I usually put AM/FM antennas in the attic. With a metal roof am I wasting my time (and my clients money)?

Yep. You need to get the antenna feeds outside.

Agreed. Here in Southern California, even mediterranean style brick roofs can be a problem because of lead in the bricks (at least that's the explanation I've heard).
