 I agree with  everyone else.  But if it's not possible to run coax, install a rack at the termination point of the CAT-5's, place all of the cable boxes in the rack and use the Snap AV single CAT5 HDMI Baluns,  the balun also has ir -repeaters built into it.

If the downstairs is open why is so difficult to just run a few coax?? Bill it to the electrician of HO. Cat 5 comes in many colors...not uncommon for some one to just grab what is there......I would put atleast 3 coax and 1 more cat5

the downstairs is being framed and upstairs is all done basically ready to live in. The electrican i guess is gonna bite the bullet and take care of it. who knows. and the cat5 is ran into the breaker box, as cable would be, but the cat5 is no where near the rack so i guess we would have to extend it if cable isnt installed

That's interesting. If the downstairs is now in the process of being framed, what's holding the upstairs up?
