First let me just say I am trying to help a business associate and friend. He built a new house and had a local RA2 rep design (very poorly I must add) a lighting system for his house. But before the rep came back to program the system, that rep's company went out of business. (It was Robert Kimble and Associates. Here is a link to the SOS's site listing the termination: [Link: apps.sos.wv.gov]) I have helped him get his lights working using the manual programming method, but it still no where near the level of control he was expecting as he has no time clock events. I have programmed my own HW system and have access to the Lutron Homeowner's version of the HW software so I am familiar with programming a lighting system. The rep has opened another business, but is being completely uncooperative in helping. There are no other Lutron rep's within 100 miles, only distributors. So if anyone is willing to help me help him, it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried contacting Lutron directly? They are usually pretty good in helping out in situations like that.

Call Lutron. They will find someone to program, hopefully a Lutron employee.

Someone needs to use the software to add the time clock events. Your walk-around programming will be lost.

I get the feeling there is more to this story. Really the only thing I can add is that he has seen and used my system. He wanted one and looked on Lutorn's site and found Kimble & Associates. He called them and they did not do what they should have. I feel a little bit responsible because I have told him all the things my system can do ie, a Goodbye button that turns off all the lights as you leave, a button to turn on certain lights from the car etc. His doesn't do any of these things. He has been a friend and business associate for 20+ years and I just want to help him get it fixed.

He has been a friend and business associate for 20+ years and I just want to help him get it fixed. I can respect that. The two things you mentioned here should be possible with button programming. Not as flexible as the button programming on original RA. However, as you may know the RA2 software is very flexible and has the added benefit of setting scenes based on astronomical settings, serial control, labeling rooms, and allowing you to firmware update and install the ipad app. The good news is, his hardware is good. As long as he has a main repeater, dimmers, and a few well placed keypads everything will be alright. Take a deep breath and find a good programmer. I am sure Lutron will point you to someone fresh out of PSP and looking for someone to try out his new programming skills on. I doubt you will find it free or cheap (relative) but its a nice system and should be programmed properly.

Ok, things have gotten a little bit weirder. His Grafik Eye QS stopped worked (never should have been spec'd, but that is just my opinion) due to a surge (we had a thundersnow storm), so his builder calls up the electrical supplier that he got the rest of the stuff through and they can't even order the stuff now since the rep is no longer in business. This is nuts.
So would he be better off not replacing the GE and instead using regular RA2 dimmers? It is a 6 load unit, but they way they are split up looks like they just tried to find a way to use all 6 loads. Could easily get by with 4 dimmers. But it is not quite that simple as the are 3 GE keypads (which never worked BTW) on the other 3 entrances to the room. Is there anything that can be done to use regular RA2 keypads in these locations. One has easy access to HV, the other 2 do not.
And I have read that even though they were designed to integrate, the GE and RA2 don't play well together. Is this still the case?
So anyone willing to help me out here please PM me. I am looking at getting at least 4-6 diimmers/remote dimmers plus a GE or 8-10 dimmers. Not a huge amount at this time, but I think once he get the system up and running properly, he will expand the number of devices.
Thanks.

How old is the GE? Is it a QS model that could work with radiora? Is there 120v at the GE keypads? (a nearby receptacle on the opposite side of the wall perhaps?) Is the 20a breaker that feeds the GE tripped in the panel? Was the ra and grafikeye put in at the same time?

How old is the GE? Is it a QS model that could work with radiora? Put in in September -October. Yes Model QSGRJ-6P Is there 120v at the GE keypads? (a nearby receptacle on the opposite side of the wall perhaps?) One, maybe a second, but the third would be hard, but it is the least needed IMHO Is the 20a breaker that feeds the GE tripped in the panel? It was when the thundersnow hit. That is what fried the GE. I spoke to Lutron tech support and after troubleshooting, the tech came to the conclusion it was fried. Was the ra and grafikeye put in at the same time? Yes

Who put in Your Ra system?
Can they help him?
Have you tried to contact an actual RA2 trained and certified dealer in your area? Lutron can give you some of their names and numbers.
