Hey guys, it has been a few months since I designed my last Projector/Screen home cinema, and I know there are a lot of new models and different technologies around, I have 2 new projects to quote and i would need some advice.

one is a dedicated cinema room the other is a family room with a Tv and and a electric screen rolling down in front of the tv. Both rooms are blacked out.

my biggest doubt is about the projector. 3D or not, Sharp, JVC, Sanyo, Sony?

The last one i used was a sharp xv15000 and I was happy, but i am sure that one is outdated.

Thanks!

of course... little detail missing.

well, this is the kind of customer that doesnt tell you his budget. he wants something "nice". I deal with both of them for quite a while and they always want to hear from me first. If it is reasonable, they will go for it. so the answer is nothing cheap, they like good stuff and good brand. but i would like to give a better and best option.

I second the DPI choice, or look into Runco.

Runco LS5 = Cheap
Q750i = Better (depending on screen size)

One thing I noticed in this forum is that when you're asking for such a recommendation you'll get confused easily and you'll end up not knowing what to pick because everyone has had their fare share of bad or good experience with a certain brand..

just up there i read F jvc whilst others have had good experience with them, althought when you get alot of negative comments from 1 particular product then beware (thats where I like this forum) however i'd say take the suggestions and demo all those products yourself, also look at the support you will be getting from those manufacturers/their reps. very important of course im sure I don't have to tell you. I personally don't pick up a brand on just the specs but also the support+people behind the product..

Just recently I was spat at by a very well known brand in this industry, they do some cool products and I wanted to have access to their lines and it was a nightmare dealing with them, their staff didn't have a clue on who to transfer me to, i was told I would get a call back months ago and just had to call them again recently to get the "slap in the face" I personally felt they disregarded me totally simply because their idiot of salesman couldnt see the potential of large sales in my market, I took the time to remind him that a house isn't built from top down but the other way around.. anyhow i went with another line who believe in me and I am going to give 200% to dedicate my time and success to their product and honestly is the best way for me really, i guess everything happens in life for a reason.

Yes the jvc's implementation of 3d is problematic.
If you see it in action you will understand
2d looks great though

+1 for JVC

On the cheaper side we always go with the sanyo plv-z3000.

I did not sold any 3d projector yet so i can't argue.

But what i've seen for now is really disappointing...

Please go into more detail on this.  We are a JVC dealer and have one of their X series projectors on the way to set up as a demo.  I would like to know more about your experience with this.

Thanks
