Went into a MicroCenter to buy some simple cheap network switches and found this Tenda portable access point that I thought was very interesting. It can function as an access point, a network bridge, a repeater, and a few other things. The price on these things are only $35.00 and to test the one I got I set up one of these as a network adapter to supply a internet connection for a Panasonic BluRay. It has a power supply with it but also power for these can be supplied by the USB connection of the BluRay.

If these test out good then it would be nice to carry one small unit that I could configure for different jobs rather than have to carry several different units for several different jobs. Will let you know how these test out and if they are reliable.

I havent used those. But about a year ago started using Buffalo routers because they can function as all of those too. They run about $80 (from amazon). One thing I like with the buffalo pieces is I can set one in WAP mode, and still use the LAN ports for a network switch. Very handy for a home office, or local equipment cabinet in a family room.
Civil War reenactment is LARPing for people with no imagination.
