I loved it. There are a lot of easter eggs in it. The story is only so-so, but if you want a movie with a great story, then go watch some artsy movie. The special effects are stunning.

We watched it in 3D, pretty cool. The way they animated the young version of Jeff Bridges was eeeh.. His face moves funny.. other than that, pretty cool.

I saw Tron in IMAX 3d. Sounded great and looked good, but the story was very weak.

Computer Jeff Bridges looked weird. Real Jeff Bridges was basically the Big Lebowski. Computer programs ate pork roasts, slept in beds, and partied at ultra chic clubs for no apparent reason. At least in the Matrix they explain why a program would do these things.

The 3d added nothing to the experience, but I'm sure it will be THE demo disc in a few months. Techno + neon + babe in PVC/leather + light cycles = trade show paradise.

The only reason I could figure out that the programs acted human was because jeff bridges character intended for the grid to be some perfect world to change the world. So he must have had the intention of humans going to the grid to enjoy this sci fi utopia.

But yeah, it didn't make sense. I wasn't as bothered by the fact that they ate pork, but where did the food (and beds) come from.

Must have been an Apple operating system. I'm certain that Microsoft wouldn't allow pork or nightclubs in their OS.

Wait, maybe that's backwards.

I saw it. Effects were awesome; I miss the chick from House.

OT: It's interesting that her character in House just disappeared from House, probably to make this movie. As for Kal Penn, an article title says it best:

Actor Kal Penn's surprise suicide on 'House' opens way to job with Obama White House

the suicide made zero sense in the series and none of the characters could figure out either.

Back on topic: The story was okay, the portrayal of younger Bridges never looked like him. In words from HHGTTG: He looked almost entirely unlike Jeff Bridges.

I finally had to go look at a trailer for the original TRON, which I never saw. I didn't get the big deal about Bridges because I never recognized him in any of the TRON posters I saw. He's just not himself without the hair. Ask either Lebowski.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Daft Punk was awsome. They fit right in like a round peg. ;)

No. Wait for the extended uncut directors compendium alternate ending special edition blu-ray with collectible figurine edition to come out.

Then rent it at Redbox or Netflix.

I've been looking for an excuse to go check out TRON2, but my son is not really into movies, and GF would rather see other stuff. Supposedly the sound mix was done really well and as someone who works in sound too, was really curious... but will probably wait for BR release and watch / listen to it at home.

I would have to say yes. The story is weak/predictable. But the special affects of the Wizzard of Oz meets The Matrix (with a splash of Jedi) were very good and made it entertaining. I also thought the 3D added to the affects in this movie.

I also saw Green Hornet (midnight preview). Again, predictable story, but I thought it was very good. If you are trying to decide between Hornet and Tron, I'd easily say Hornet. 3D was a complete waste in this one though. But they took the comic book movie in a new angle, and Seth Rogan's clumsy character added a human level not usually in the super hero stories.

The previews for coming attractions had a few that looked good. One being Cars 2. My boy loves Matter, so I cant wait. Although being he will only be 3, and is epileptic I'll have to pass on the 3D version, even though it looked like it would add to it. Another one is Green Lantern. Im sure it wont be a deep story either, but I think it will still be fun. the preview was also in 3D, so I assume there will be a 3D version. And the other one that looks good is the new Pirates of the Caribbean (also a 3D preview). even though Johnny Depp can apparently only play Jack Sparrow or some guy with a weird hat in a Tim Burton movie, it looks like he hasnt worn out the Pirates Franchise yet.

On a related note, I finally found a way to position the 3D glasses so they dont distract me or cause a headache. I slide down in the seat a little so I can recline my head back against the seat, then push the glasses down my nose further from my eyes and slide the arms of the glasses a couple inches up from my ears (almost like an old lady that peers over her glasses). With my head tilted back I see through the lenses but have them far enough away to not screw with my eyes.
