2 of the nicest looking TVs I saw at CES were LG and Sharp. I didn't get a look at the control options for Sharp but LG is CI friendly.
My Goto will remain Panasonic but I am taking a serious look at both. The first one to bump their margin up to a solid 50 cents will get my attention. Thats like a free Coke with every 2 sets sold.

Insignia does use various manufacturer parts, just like most brands. Last year I bought an Insignia plasma that is all Samsung, except for the badges. This is a fairly common practice in a lot of industries.

A few years ago, Sony panels would actually tell you they used Samsung glass in the service menu.

Jeff...I love the Panasonic line for Plasma and that's all we use if plasma is on the proposal but how are you liking their LCD and LED lineup. They just don't seem to go big enough (max'd out at 42") and thin enough for me to want to change from Samsung...Unless it's a bathroom, laundry room or kitchen I never go smaller than a 46" these days.

That's what I'm talking about...42 isn't nearly big enough (that's what she said).

Not impressed With the LCD/LED Lineup at all. I am however impressed with the picture Sharp has to offer in these lines.
I'm pro plasma until they wont let me sell them anymore but LED is a big request item so thats the area I'm visiting.

So the new Sharps are that much better? (ones seen at CES?) Because from experience they offer the worst picture out of all current main stream top tier tvs..my 2cents I don't ever spec them because when compared to a similar priced Sammy they look like matted trash.
One of our reps mentioned yesterday they are going to be releasing a 70" panel with a retail at 4k ish. which made me raise my unibrow if its true cause size is king. Probably only require 3 guys to lift with M14 sized mounting holes and a separate power supply for the 4th color..

+1 more for the sharp LED/LCD's. Best TV (aside from Panasonic V(T) series plasma) I've seen in a while. A significantly better looking picture then Samsungs LED/LCD's.

But I'd also take an LG, or Toshiba over a Samsung in a second. I've yet to see one look halfway decent, even calibrated with all processing turned off. It makes me wonder why people like them...I know it's definitely not the insanely large profit margins :-), so it leaves me wondering why people recommend them (SWIS? Customer comes in with Consumer reports wanting Vizio?)

Regarding the Sony LED/LCD's, last time I checked, the entry level Costco/CLub version SONY's were rebadged Vizio's (or who ever makes the corresponding parts for the Vizio's), EX's are rebadged samsung 6xx/6xxx series Panels, and the topline NX and HX/XBR's are previous generation (pre-quatron) Sharp Panels with the XBR's adding proprietary video processing.

As far as who sells the most raw 37"+ panels, I'm pretty sure its been Sharp since the late 90's (they may not sell the most under their own brand), but they've been one of the largest OEMs for a long time.
