I haven't heard anything about LG buying Vizio. I have heard that Vizio panels are made from assorted parts from various manufacturers. Parts are sometimes different from panel to panel even in a given model series.
I can honestly say i have never looked at a Vizio plasma or LCD so i cant comment on picture quality. What i will say is that Samsung 9000 LED TV blows the LG 55LE5500 away as far as picture quality. We went with LG recently because of the defect reports with the 9000. Sad because the Samsung was so much better.

LG may not have the picture quality of Samsung but I have installed a couple of them using their wireless media box and I was pretty impressed with the performance of the box. It would be great if Sammy released their own box for their TV's.

Doesnt Vizio just duct tape what ever b stock they can get from whatever company is blowing it out. I thought that is why you cant really get a service manual, because the same model numbers are not necessarily the same inside.
At this point just give me discrete codes. If they want Vizio and it has discretes so be it. If they want quality I sell them Panasonic. Everyone else get LG.

Really? "Insinkya" is Vizio? No, Insignia is made by LG. Best Buy pushes it as "LG on the inside, but for less money"

Next time you have the misfortune to enter a BB, take a LG remote and use it on a Vizio. You'll find it works.
And FWIW my info comes directly from a source inside LG...

FYI, we are a service center, and in several publications, LG is listed as the largest flat panel maker in the world. They build the panels for Philips, Magnavox, Vizio, Insignia, and other entry level stuff. Toshiba and Sony use Samsung panels, and Toshiba uses Samsung or LG boards depending on the model. Vizio LED's are made by some company I cannot pronounce.
We see many of the NEW garbage brands of TV's using LG parts from several years ago. Trutec, ILO, SWA, etc all have LG build them basically old stuff.
Insignia uses LG, Samsung, or Chungwa parts. They used to be modified LG's with not as good of features, no discrets, and less inputs. Now they are Samsung or Chungwa.

...so to follow that logic (pardon me if I'm wrong) is it safe to assume that LG is then garbage? I don't really know as we don't carry the line but a buddy of mine does as his goto line for flat panels if Sony doesn't fit the bill.

It's just that LG also builds the garbage for other companies.....
