On the Samsung Un55c6500. I'm looking all over this thing and can't find it anywhere. I'm assuming the blue flashing light is also where the sensor resides. Thanks for any help

I last dragged this out almost exactly a year ago. I wrote it in response to a similar thread.

While we're looking at manuals, does the manual show the IR location?

I find the sensor with the factory remote, not an IR emitter, to be sure that none of your IR system and its possible problems can confuse things. You can't be sure your entire IR system is working until you find the IR receiver, so you can't start by finding the IR receiver with the system. You have to use the factory remote.

Take a book with a dark non-reflective cover and place it in front of the left part of the receiver. Try the remote from three or four feet back. See what happens.

What you are trying to do is be far enough back that the book is truly casting an effective IR "shadow" on the front of the unit. If the unit responds, move the book an inch at a time until you have pinned down just where, left to right, the remote can control the unit. And where it can't. Then hold the book in your hand and move it up and down as you retry controlling the receiver; this should pin down the height of the sensor.

Remember, be a few feet back. This helps ensure that IR doesn't bounce sideways off of cabinet sides or other things that it might.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

A strong flashlight can also be useful for finding the sensor if it's hidden behind a large glossly plastic panel (ie. on cable boxes).

And for fun, a camcorder with nightvision... darkly colored but IR transparent plastic becomes clear. :-)

Samsung's are always difficult to find. Even with a flashlight you cannot see them. I just had to go stick an emitter back on a tv that the cleaning woman knocked off (despite me telling them not to let the cleaning people near the tv). It was a Samsung LCD and it was about 2 or 3 inches to the left of the center of the tv. I believe the power button was right in the center. I kept hitting "TV ON" on the remote and moved the emitter around till I found it.

Remove back panel, with panel facing down and bottom toward you you'll see a horizontal speaker pressed into the lower left lip via 2 rubber bushings. Remove that. Below that is a plastic cover held on by one philips head screw. Remove cover. The IR sensor is on the left side of that circuit board. You don't need to remove the board, just hot glue the emitter next to it. 30 minutes max start to finish.

On this set not a chance it is not visible from the front at all. I used an LED flashlight right up against the bezel. I could see all the imperfections with how the bezel was coupled with the black backing but no IR window is visible at all.

In this case I was looking to avoid taking off the back panel but it seems I don't have a choice. Thanks, I'll tackle this tomorrow or Monday.

I tried that too and no luck. It looks like I'll be taking the back panel off to get this going. Thanks

Burying it inside is the proper way in my opinion but if you can't, aren't allowed to or don't want to the IR window shares the same cutout in front bezel as the red LED that is lit while unit is in standby.

Yeah, that's about the time it always took me to do this. When I considered doing it a few years ago, people here were saying BS like "hey, ten minutes!"

"Up to thirty" is realistic but seems like quite a premium to have to charge to make things a bit prettier while also likely voiding the warranty. Not to void the warranty, one could install the LED, then if service is needed take up to an hour to remove the LED before service, then replace it after service. Again, that seemed too steep.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

The IR Receiver is indeed right there behind the little window.

I'll take your word for it. I'm telling you straight though. I had an LED flashlight right up against the clear part of the bezel to illuminate the dark grey area and I saw NO little window at all. I saw imperfections where the front and back of the bezel attached from the far right corner to the far left but that's it. I'll be there again tomorrow thoughWe'll see. Either way it's getting fixed tomorrow.

I just dont understand all the confusion in this thread.... I own a 50" Samsung 8k series.... It looks pretty much the same as this and I have my IR Emitter right on that little smooth window and it works great. All the Samsung's out on my sales floor have that little window as well.

Even all the brushed Chrome finish sets have cut outs for the IR receivers on the front. Maybe the older sets were hard to find, but all the current ones are pretty obvious and clearly identified in the owners manual as well.

LOL! I understand what you mean. It's not my set, I didn't sell it or install it but I do have to control it. I also don't know when it was manufactured if it is earlier or later. Just so you know I'm not BS'ing you I will take a picture the next time I'm there (tomorrow?) so you can see (or not) exactly what I'm talking about.

Of course I hope a little window doesn't magically appear!
