This is my third time using the xantech HD88CC5 from xantech. I have tried using an emitter on the front, using a mini on the back. I cannot get this thing to control reliably everytime. Even if I use the remote they supply. I just finished a 7 zone tv pool house all controlled with an mx-880 using 3 different base stations. The first problem I noticed is that the xantech unit has a terrible credit card bubble button remote. I have tried adjusting the gain on the base station, using a pause and double the macro in the programming. For example: When I press watch cable box 1 for tv 2 macro on remote, it will work maybe 3 out of 5 times. I have contacted Xantech and they have no answer for me. Is anybody else having trouble with these units? Xantech is sending me an in house remote in hopes it will learn in the commands better. All three jobs I did with this unit, i have the same issue.

As you all know, I am willing to change anything to get it to work,. I realize it may just be me. I am ok with that. Just want the thing to work!

I have only used one, and I controlled it with RS-232. That thing is to troublesome to reliably control it otherwise. If you notice, it's never recomended when people ask about matrix's.

First question I would ask you, is why, after the headaches the first time, would you use it again, not once, but twice more?

The first two times, I was sure it was something I was not doing correctly. You know how little things can kill use out there. The reason is we ordered three of them for 3 different jobs. I already sent one of them back because of 3 zones going bad. This customer spent 40k with us and xantech said they would not even send a new one until the old one got fixed. 2-3weeks. I always heard that xantech was a good brand. I have not had a good experience with them. What are you guys using? I don't want hdmi. Component only.

B&K or Knox, are the 2 brands that I use. I've never had any problems with either of them.

NEZBO, if you ultimately decide to change your switch, or for future jobs, please give our gear a look. There are a number of integrators here on RC that have converted to us with great success.

Zektor has a 5 year advanced warranty replacement policy and we design, manufacture and support everything here in the U.S.

While we do have a couple of online retailers still left, we strictly enforce full MSRP advertising so your margins are secure.

Good luck on the project.

Jeff
