Sorry I did not mean to ruin your day, nor diminish the reputation of this great and very beneficial web site, but in all seriousness, I think this is all perfectly appropriate, since it has had such a dramatic affect on our industry. Honestly, none of you have lost customers, nor suffered any loss in revenue over the last year and a half? If you don't know anything about what is really going on, how can you adequately plan your personal and business strategy?

Perhaps in the near future we will be required to submit to some government agency all IP information for every security system we install. Perhaps will have to take mandatory classes for two way communication and monitoring so that we can stay compliant with possible new laws and so forth.

No matter what happens in the future we are the guys who are going to be right in the middle of the big brother technology loop, when this stuff has to be installed and maintained, who they gonna call?

Whats really going on is the banks gave out loans to people who did not qualify for them. Then when it came time to pay back the loans.. big surprise that they didn't pay them back?

Here I've argued both sides against the middle. Most people will maintain secrecy as long as there is a compelling reason, particularly national security. In the absence of that compelling reason people will tell stories, the more salacious the details the more likely the secret will be maintained. Is Dale Brown correct and Mary Magdalene carried the unborn son of Jesus and the Catholic Church new this and covered it up for centuries? Or is this blasphemy blood libel?

In this case, I find it hard to believe that we have yet one more conspiracy like the Masons or the Council on Foreign Relations. Or better yet, let's all follow Dan Brown and his religious conspiracies. If you think about it there's probably more substance in it than in these private conspiracies.

I didn't get the story from the media.. i got it in person. I watched the value of my house go from $147,000 to $221,000 in a period of 1 year.

I watched my sisters loan officer teach her how to fake her way thru the application to buy a $400,000 town house with a $500 a week salary and 2 car notes.

I watched my whole neighborhood go into foreclosure. Here is the story of every single one of them.. They bought the house for $140-180k. took out $20,30,40k loans when their houses appraised at $220,000 and they bought trucks and boats and swimming pools and home theaters and then one day the balloon loan... ballooned!! and their mortgage went from $1300 a month to $2400 a month. And guess what? Turns out that $1000.00 extra bucks a month is hard to come up with for people who were only able to qualify for a $147,000 house.

There is no conspiracy.. Bush edited the laws and allowed the banks to be the morons that they are and guess what happens when daddy (the government) isnt there to say no and spank the asses of the bad little kids (the banks) who want to make a big mess (Americans with no understanding of anything related to finances and the houses they couldnt afford).

They threw out the formula for granting loans so that they could pass out as many loans as they could.. they knew what would happen but like the greedy bastards they are.. they also knew they would make a whole lot of money fast and be able to walk away from it without a scratch when it all came crashing down. Just borrow money from China to fund the war and use tax dollars to keep us out of 3rd world status.

This is my major gripe with anyone who complains about laws and "big brother". Its pretty OBVIOUS that no one can be trusted to do the right thing. And this is something that you could easily get people to keep their mouth shut about. Both examples were technology thats meant to keep "those in the know" safe and their families and friends safe. On 9/11 i was headed to work while the buildings were burning and collapsing and people were dieing. I was listening to the radio show and a guy called in and stated that he thought bush was behind the attack.

Conspiracy theories dont start after all the information is heard and the research is done. They start right after the moron on the radio says something like that. Then they read everything they can and look for things that can be taken out of context and used to support their theory.

Guess what the radio show host said to the guy?

"come on man.. do you really think that he would be able to get away with something like that.. so many people dieing in that building.. you dont think there are family members and friends who would speak up if that really happened"
