Any reason you cant leave the PC on all the time? Maybe have them only shut it down when the boat isn't being used.

The problem with boats, is that they are constantly switching from generator power over to shore power.  We have a backup UPS on the computer for this reason.  But there are times when the boat will be disconnected from power long enough for the UPS battery to die.  The PC really isnt my biggest problem, it is the navigation equipment.  Since that turns on from the Flybridge, when it gets shut off, it can be a pain to have to climb up there and turn it back on, to make the TV in a stateroom turn on.  This issue doesnt happen alot, but because it doesnt happen alot, the owners tend to forget my instructions that the navigation equipment/PC should be the last thing that gets turned off, and the first thing to be turned on for every activity to work properly.  It is that one time that the problem does occur, that I get a phone call on sunday from an annoyed customer that can't watch their football game.

It is really annoying that Samsung put this "feature" into their TV sets.

I wonder if putting the TV in Hotel mode might resolve that issue? worth a try anyway.

that video might be the answer to my problem

according to the list provided earlier, pin 10 is the sync ground.   If i short that pin to ground like the video shows, maybe it will fool the TV into thinking that the PC is turned on.

gonna have to try tomorrow with a spare cable.

Sorry to hear about this, but glad I did since I have a PC/Samsung coming up. Luckily I proposed a Dell Zima which has an HDMI port. Seems like an insane feature. I would hound Samsung until an engineer can at least explain reasoning behind this one. I can see if your using a TV as a monitor exclusively, but not a 46" LCD. I would send that thing back and go with a Pansonic Viera which have always made excellent PC/Home Theater monitors.

so if I were to build my own cable to put inline on the back of each tv, would there be certain pin(s) that don't get connected?  or is just building my own cable, pin for pin, enough to disable the status?  Could I modify a premade male to female cable?

Perhaps experiment on some extension cables removing pins which dont provide any colour information (RGBHV+ and Ground) until you find the combination which solves your problem.
Wireless speakers? Of course Sir. Choose the colour and size you like. As you don't seem to think sound quality is important, I will not plug them in.

I'm happy to report that I solved the problem.

All I had to do was break off pin number 10 on the end of the vga cable that goes into the television.   Now when the PC is shut off, the TV stays on and says "check signal cable" No more shutting off!!!

Thanks SV650S, your pin out diagram set me on the right path.
