I'm doing Prodigy in about 2 hours. It should be less now that the code is templated so I'd think, depending on the job, 2-3 days and a templated code should take 2 hours including firmware and device setup. ( my problem was my original template was for PLX2 which is a very different animal from the PLX3. )

Alan

I do something similar but with system builder.
Like I said I don't let sb do any programming or logic for me.
I goto the properties of the ptx3 and disable - build pages for me.
I use all custom graphics from guifx.

I built one system that has the majority of devices I use already programmed in to it with all the pages built and ready to go. I add in an iPad with all coding and graphics in as well.

I save it and name it as my template.
I then open it up at every client and save it as a new file. I then just change what I need to like clients name on home page. We use mostly the same devices on every job so it's usually a complete job in less then an hour. Some things we need to swap out like tv are super easy since they only effect our global presets. Sometimes we need to swap out cable boxes with Fios boxes so I would just right click the cable box , choose replace and choose the Fios box. I look over all the buttons to make sure the device replace worked right. Similar with DVD.

On a single room job I have it down to under 2 hours as well like Alan said. .

No. Like I said above. All system builder.
I'm not talented enough yet for simpl. I'm sure ill get there.
In the meantime I find sb more then capable.

Most capable programming software I've ever used. Better them RTI urc and Nevo by leaps.

Hold on, what "integration components" are you talking about? And C4 already has iphone/ipad, and their version of "virtual panel" comes out next month.

Better price tag? :)

how much are you realy saving on the price tag?

Even logitech offers a better remote than what C4 has to offer, and like i said prior an iphone is in no way a family firendly remote control solution.

Control 4 versus RTI?

RTI is way more customer firendly, adaptable, & expandable.
You would honestly put an HC 300 with a SR 250 remote up against an XP8 with a zigby T2C+

And if your customer has to have iphone / ipad well it looks like this with RTI

With an antenna, accessories, the remote, and processor you are looking at close to 3k. Before programming...

The xp8 is not much more powerful then the pmc2 processor. And the ptx3 is very similar to the t2c.

The pmc2+ package is $1170 msrp which is awesome and very very close to that RTI solution.

You will note that I am not tossing stones at Crestron, only at C4. Crestron in my opinion like RTI has a realistic total solution, where as C4 does not, that is my argument.

Oh by the way the RTI XP6 will be coming out soon, it uses all the same concept and drivers as the XP8 but is substantially less expensive

there will be an Xp3 also available

It is 3 weeks if you are waiting for defective product to be fixed and returned. ;)

the biggest difference with the C4 remote is its an actual 2 way device. While it does not have a pretty touch screen its a very powerful remote. You can control just about anything in an entire home with that remote control including seeing all of your music information right on the screen.

Also the C4 controller features much more things like audio decoding, rhapsody, on screen interface, iphone, ipod, ipad apps and also you can run their flash navigator on any devices capable of running Adobe Air.. IE windows or macs, tablets etc.

You guys are getting me excited about Crestron again!!! I really do wish System Builder was as good as Elan g! Configurator or Control4. Maybe I will be suprised! I like SIMPL and love the idea of using all Crestron devices with Prodigy, but I want to push out small systems in a day or two if possible.

Crestron is coming out with a completely new programming option. It was explained to me at their experience center. I believe it is based off of C++ which should make it easier than Simple+. Supposedly, it will allow backward and forward compatibility of programs created in the wizard or in actual code. For example, if you were to have a CAIP create a program for you in the new C++ code, you can pull into the wizard version and make modifications, or the other way around.
New software and the new processor sound like a recipe for much success. Crestron has about 2300 active PNs in their catalog. How many does C4 have? (really don’t know).
I’m all in with Crestron.
