Trust me, EVERY missing piece in their lineup has been requested over and over and over in the dealer forums.... You've got the $129 SR-150, the $199 SR-250 and then the $1,000 (was $1,499) portable 7" touchscreen with nothing in between the two.

Is that 7" WiFi still a dog? It seems to work fine if you have a decent WiFi with a recommended AP and never move it out of range.

By portable, it means you can move it around in the same room without wires, not move it from room to room.

I don't think many customers really know what highend is. They see a really cool touchpanel and lighting control or media control. One may look more finished and then they get the quote. Control 4 will win unless you can clearly explain how design and programming come into play without sounding like a hater. Most people newly introduced to automation will go with Control4, because they associate this stuff with commoditized consumer electronics from Best Buy.

I was told that Best Buy was a majority owner of C4, hence the associaiton between the two. Don't know if this is in fact true, but does sway my opinion. I'm looking at pulling the trigger on Prodigy very soon (maybe this week) and am exited, I was hesitant with its original limitaitons but it seems to have come into its own very quickly. I was waiting on the total control but lost excitement recently when I found out it wsn't friendly with the other URC line up. So Prodigy, here I come.

I was contacted by Avad to do Prodigy, I wonder if I will have to use System Builder. I started out in this industry as a Crestron Programmer and I know System Builder could not have gotten much better. I am actually trying to avoid becoming a full on Crestron dealer as I am already a Elan g! dealer. I don't want to be tied to sales volumes.

No sales volume required. Just minimum opening order. Also I do a tremendous amount sb. I just don't let it build pages for me at all. I use all custom logic.

Motech, are you doing Prodigy thru Avad and if so did they give you access to SIMPL programming?

I wonder how restricted Avad Prodigy dealers are?

RTI not sure I agree! Sounds like RTI is all you use. lol

So how many decent  hand held remotes does control 4 have?

I am sorry but an iphone is not a full time remote that your kids should be using when they are watching sponge bob.

I have a couple of T2+'s that have been chewed on by the dog tossed around by 4 year olds had food and other goo spilled all over them for the last 5 years straight all I have done is replace the battery's and they both still work rock solid, the point is RTI has something that works for the whole family not just the 30 something tech employee who's whole life revolves around his phone.

ring ring ow dam where is the mute on my iphone? hold on charlie I switched to phone mode and i cant hear you please wait while i switch back to my control 4 home theater app so i can turn this thing down, charlie? charlie are you still there?

RTI has vastly better integration components than C4, and is near to shipping the ipad / ipad app, we already have the virtual panel app which is nearly the same interface but for your laptop.

There is nothing that control 4 can do better than RTI nothing.

I have been in this line of work for 32 years now and have tried other products, which is why I am only into RTI, simply because it is the best control platform in the price range.

If there is something in your mind that C4 can do better than an RTI 2 way zigby setup with an XP8  then you really don't know RTI.

You can code Prodigy in Simpl. There is nothing in the C4 line that touches the 3x. I think Crestron lighting and HVAC vastly superior to C4 in build quality and touch and feel.

Ultimately, it's about the ultimate solution, not just price. Crestron is 400 more out of the box with a vastly superior remote that is customizable. It lacks iTunes integration and Rapsody without additional products. but it also offers you the opportunity to customize the GUI and so differentiate your company from every other.

No client touching both C4 and Crestron remotes is going to chose the C4 remote. Once HDMI solution hits Prodigy that difference will be exacerbated.

Still, if you believe your clients are going to go with the lowest price, C4 makes sense. I think C4 feels cheap. There are some who cannot understand how to overcome the perceptions that Crestron is expensive or overcome other sales issues that come from preconceptions that say anything but Crestron.

I like prodigy and if you can code Simpl teamed with Sqeezebox you can offer a very nice solution that is not all that expensive. I don't think you have to match C4 pricing. You do need a solid feature set that is not expensive.

Hold on, what "integration components" are you talking about? And C4 already has iphone/ipad, and their version of "virtual panel" comes out next month.

Better price tag? :)

RTI I totally understand where you are coming from. When you have something that works for you, stick with it. My thing is Home Control and RTI is just getting into Home Control and veeerrrry slowly I might add. When I worked for a company, RTI was a great reliable staple when Crestron was out of range.

You guys are getting me excited about Crestron again!!! I really do wish System Builder was as good as Elan g! Configurator or Control4. Maybe I will be suprised! I like SIMPL and love the idea of using all Crestron devices with Prodigy, but I want to push out small systems in a day or two if possible.

That is possible, even with Simpl.

I'm doing Prodigy in about 2 hours. It should be less now that the code is templated so I'd think, depending on the job, 2-3 days and a templated code should take 2 hours including firmware and device setup. ( my problem was my original template was for PLX2 which is a very different animal from the PLX3. )

I am a believer in both relationships and having your support close by geographically. Tony is in your area and if you run into issues you'd be wise to call on him.
