Umm.. this has been addressed already.. why do people continue to try and reinvent the wheel when a perfectly good solution already exists. Midgets are the HDMI of control and we are component. The quality isnt quite there but our product works every single time. I know but Best Buy has bought them all out locally and I may need another option!

Yes, for now at least. I do believe Prodigy is growing and will be very competitive within a year or so.
For use, C4 wanted a $50k per year minimum. We are small and with no experience in advanced systems beyond RTI (1-way only at the time) this was a hard commitment to agree to. This was also about a year or so ago when the economy was going around the bowl for the 3rd or 4th time.
We took on Prodigy, but I don't have a definite opinion of it yet compared to C4, but it does kill the small RTI and URC market. RTI can actually do more than prodigy right now once you get to a certain size. I find this very curious: C4 wouldn't have you, but Crestron would? Does Crestron not require a minimum?

From a consumer standpoint, crestron is my choice. C4 doesn't appear to have anything close to a tpmc3x on their website. Perhaps only dealers can see the real products?

Prodigy doesn't have the TPMC-3X. The prodigy version has no wi-fi. IMO its still nicer than any remote or touchscreen at C4 but the product line for C4 is much larger than Prodigy right now. If you are looking to do 1 room systems or a room and a few zones of audio then either will work. If you plan to do larger systems and these 2 are your choices then C4 will beat Prodigy.

With Prodigy you are pretty much limited to 6 zones of Audio & Video (handheld remote) and 6 zones of audio (in-wall touchscreen), or 12 zones with a mix of audio and video.
The DA Amp for Prodigy can stack to do up to 12 zones, however, you are maxed out at 12 control interfaces (I may be wrong, but I don't think so). This is still quite a bit and would cover a lot of medium projects. The system definitely has some limitations right now, but its still very fresh. I have high hopes for it to develop.

Does anyone have any input on this discussion after many kinks have been worked out of the new processors for both manufacturers? From reading about both products, Control4 looks more complete for even a small 2500sq home!!!

You need to define that more than 2500^ft home. How many zones, what sources, and what else.
I'd think it'd be close with C4 having some built in features such as native mp3 and some streaming you need to add Squeezebox to obtain with Prodigy.
Prodigy has nicer remote--I dislike TV and OSD--but let's say it's 50/50. I think Crestron TSTATs and lighitng with Prodigy much nicer than C4.
C4 is configuation code--all code running on processor. Prodigy is wizzard based. You may be able to do more with Prodigy/Systembuilder but there'll be more issues. C4 is more easily expandable. I code so I could take Prodigy outside of its box and but in a knox 16x16 plus some 16 channel amps and .....I've incrased the cost of the job by a lot.
Soon there will be no Prodigy only dealers and you'll have a Prodigy system that will connect to all devices so you'll have an AAE to add 6 more zones to the system.
In long term I'd not bet against Crestron. In the short term, C4 has the more expandable product.

WhiteVan I would appreciate your input!! Audible, mainly just comparing a basic system with 6 zones of audio and one home theater, lighting and climate...
Audible, you explain that there will be know more Prodigy dealers. What will happen to the Prodigy dealers through Avad?

We went with Prodigy because of Crestron and the fact that in a town of 75,000 we have over 5 C4 dealers. With the addition of the PMC3-XP processor it's going to open up the entire Crestron line to Prodigy. They're adding HDMI switching along with iPad interface and in-wall docking stations.

We went with Crestron. There are 85+ C4 dealers in our area. I'm sure there are a fair amount of Crestron dealers as well, but probably not quite that many and very few that play in our middle class market.
From what I can tell C4 is extremely competitive at this level, but Crestron can expand to do anything. With the new PMC3-XP coming out and allowing a prodigy system to expand and talk to full line equipment or even be a low cost add-on to an existing full line system, Crestron can do whatever.
We've had our share of hiccups with PRodigy, but we're new dealers, I'm sure we'd suffer some growing pains learning C4 as well. Overall I'm happy with Crestron and excited to start working on my own graphics template and stop using Destiny.
