I was planning on using a Xantech CC12 for a commercial job where I needed to drop a screen via 12v trigger. I have RTI RK1-4 to CPB1 to CC12. Now I'm realizing I'll probably need a second relay to trigger a voltage controlled AC outlet for a remotely mounted amplifier. The CC12 is DPDT and has 2 "outputs", but they're tied together and I can't trigger them separately. Without another independent relay, they only be able to use the speaker/mics if the screen is down...

The most obvious step would be a second CC12, but I'm just trying to keep the cost down. The only other IR controlled relays I know of are CC62, but that is 2.5x the cost of the CC12, and the Elan SR-1, but that's even more than the CC62 and is total overkill for this.

Is there a cost effective solution I'm missing?

Problem is we were trying to come in under budget. I had RP-6's in there, but they got taken out. Either way I'd still need a controlled outlet. Also it's three different rooms and I'll be eating the cost on this stuff x3. :)

That's what I'm talkin about!

Except it's so cheap I'm scared to use it..... :)

If all the gear is in a central closet you could use the Xantech 686-10 6 pair speaker selector?

Feed your 12 volts to the amplifier connector and you get 6 relay outputs with individual and global functions.

Just make sure to leave the protection resistors off.
Technology is cheap, Time is expensive.

That is cool... finally!

I have been looking for simple IR triggered relays for a while. I wish there were more available.

Steve Man,
I don't think so. The CC12 is basically that with two poles instead of four.

jim,
The CC62 or the do-it-yourself kit is the solution. I buy a CC62 when I hit two relays because there often is a need for a third, and I'd be paying more for three CC12s. Futureproofing, you know.

It hurts to be designing at this stage and trying to stay in budget, because the budget should have been based on the design. I know you are already thinking that, though.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

DIY and IR together scare me. :)

Good idea - I'll keep that in mind.

jim, I'm sending you a PM or email, depending on what I find I can do.

I have used about 50 of these units (in several CES showcars) controlled by both crestron and App. Dig.
For the price these are GREAT.
Simple to code and can be daisy chained.

You're telling me that those little tiny board relay contacts are rated 10amps @ 240VAC?

Damn, not bad.
