Hey guys hopefully you can help me. I used to spend alot of time on this site a few years back. Anyway, I have a bit of an issue. I'm in the habit of bringing home the projector from work that we use for powerpoints etc. (Sharp Notevision XR10X). I hook it up so my young kids can watch a movie on Friday night. Well tonight, I'm not in the room with them (I am a few feet away, so I know they didn't do anything) The projector just shuts down. I touch it, it's very warm. I let it cool down for about 30 minutes or more. When I plug it back in, I don't have a power light (I'm positive I'm plugged into the wall). I can't get this thing to power back up to save my life.

I would assume that their is some sort of safety measure that Sharp builds into their systems to keep them protected from real damage. So I'm posing the question to you guys, What's the fix? I really don't want to have this conversation with my boss on Monday. Thanks for any help.

1. Check the breaker

2. Somehow the lamp door switch got tripped

3. Power supply went

4. lamp went (most projectors will still show a power light)

I think your having that conversation.

Thanks Fish.

1. The breaker in my house is good, I still have power at the surge protector.

Do you know if there is a fuse or breaker inside the projector?

I really don't want to start taking this thing apart until I know I'm paying for it. LOL.

There may be a fuse, but typically if it's a user servicable thing, it will be accessable without "taking it apart". I woudl advise against taking it apart.

The first thing i'd do is remove the lamp, see if it's bad. (you can tell if it's bad, but you can't tell if it's good just by looking at it).

Then reseat the lamp and see if you get power. If you don't, I'd bet that proj is getting serviced.

If the lamp is bad do you think it would prevent the unit from powering up? The surge protector is good, have other devices plugged into it.

check the actual outlet. I have seen one outlet on a surge go bad before.

It's possible if the lamp is bad it will prevent the unit from powering up. Most proj will show a error light, but some, when the lamp counter has been overshot, will shut down. I know Vidikron's do this.

My money would be on the power supply or something else internal.

I FIXED IT!!!! Yee Friggin Hah!

Here's the fix for people that may run into the same problem as I had. (NO POWER TO XR-10X) after over heating.

Remove 6 screws on the bottom of unit
Remove 3 screws from back of unit.
Take the silver cover off the projector
After you remove the cover there is a small red button to the left of the lens. Push it in. Boom Fixed.

I really did not want to explain to my boss how I blew up our one and only projector.

Thanks for the help guys. Have a great and profitable new year!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

My XR-10X stopped working. I followed you instructions and hit the little red button to fix the problem.
