Yep, I think you hit the head right on the nail with your learning method. URC does a very good job of staying on top of the latest IR codes (EXCEPT WHEN HANK EISENGRIN LETS HIS GUYS GET BEHIND WITH CODES FOR OUR PRIZED VIZIO AND POLAROID DISPLAYS!) Just kidding. Your macro looks good provided there is enough space between the steps. Again, if there is an RF base station available for your your remote - which has IR outputs, one of which talks directly to the TV - I would highly recommend using it, if nothing else, so that dreaded "point and prey" type of macro works as reliably as possible. I have a NevoConnect, which is simply brilliant. It communicates wirelessly with the Q50 over Zwave, and has both 180degree output and IR stick-on emitters, so I have no problems w.r.t "point and pray". It can also accept sensors, if I ever need that facility.

This is from the jp1 forum, which only deals in UEI made remotes, how you use the info with UEI made product, I have no idea: [Link: hifi-remote.com]

Some progress to report, but not a great story, I'm afraid. First, Toshiba Tech Support have been utterly unhelpful. I quote "As already stated the IR codes are not available to give out, with no exceptions. ". Quite why they have such a ludicrous policy escapes me completely. The exec who decided this policy would be fiirst up against the wall when the revolution comes, IMHO. If I had the time, I'd synthesize all the possible IR codes, load them into the Q50 and fire them at the TV to see which ones actually worked, then publish them - just to annoy Toshiba!! (I know some commands have been known to 'fritz' a TV, but it's under warranty, and who'd know). Second, the workaround is causing a few niggles. Pressing 0, then "source" on the real TV remote N times, then "Select" (or just wait) does select Source N consistently. No matter how fast you push the buttons. Attempting to replicate this on the Nevo Q50 via a macro for each source produces inconsistent results - sometimes it gets the right source, sometimes it doesn't. I suspect it's down to simply setting appropriate delays between commands, but I haven't quite got that sorted out properly yet.

First, Toshiba Tech Support have been utterly unhelpful. I quote "As already stated the IR codes are not available to give out, with no exceptions. ". I have worked way too much with Toshiba TVs in the past. I don't think the tech is at issue nor the policy on giving codes out. The truth of the matter is that except for some very specific models where they tried adding some extra discreete codes for the most part the TVs are not built that way. You discovered the only work around (and even then there where models with dual tuners where it did not work), the issue that you are having is that no matter how fast you press the buttons the remote in a macro is sending them much much faster and so you are not comparing the same thing. I never played with a Nevo, but try adding delays between the codes ( for example TV 0 , delay, TV input, delay....) or shuffeling the codes ( for example if you need to turn on your disk player on and your receiver to input X in the macro you can try TV 0, player on, tv input, receiver to X, TV input....)

Would this by chance be what you are looking for? [Link: resellers.tacp.toshiba.com] I actually found these codes a few days ago and finally started testing them last night. Didn't want to raise hopes too son. Only about 4 appear to work with my particular TV (37X3030D). Fortunately, one of them is "HDMI 2", so I can now set my Sky HD box to be source with a single discrete command (once I moved it from HDMI port 1 to 2, of course). Hooray !! It is puzzling me why a few of the codes work, but most do not. I want to test what happens if I send codes twice in quick succession, using a macro, since I have read that the NEC1 IR protocol that Toshiba uses sends the code twice. Be nice if anyone else has any suggestions, though. I have also used the MakeHex utility to generate all 255 NEC1 protocol commands, and may well test all these to see if I can work out what they all do, or at least discover the particular ones I need (if I'm brave enough that is, since some threads have reported killing their sets by issuing some commands, which is somewhat worrying!!). I'll publish more details when I have had time to test more thoroughly. I feel as though we are fairly close to cracking this. Adrian

How many sources are you using? Would it be possible, and in the budget to video switch through a receiver (HDMI upconversion and such)? That way you can use the HDMI2 code you found and plug into that from monitor out on receiver. Long shot, I'm sure - good luck!

I do have a dedicated home conema room where that type of solution would be appropriate if I had a Tosh LCD TV as the display, but the setup I have been tinkering with is actually just my living room TV. Just Sky (HDMI) and DVD (SCART) as sources (the TV has integrated Freeview digital as well), and I only use the TV loudspeakers at the moment, so no separate amp or receiver. Couldn't be more basic really. rgds Adrian

Cracked it. Using MakeHex utility etc as post 23, I started testing Function Codes using a USB-UIRT to send the codes to the TV, and finally got the following to work: Source = Digital TV 0000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94 Source = HDMI 1 0000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94 Source = HDMI 2 0000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94 Source = SCART 1 0000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94 Source = SCART 2 0000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94 Source = PC 0000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94 Happy days ....... now why couldn't Toshiba have simply told the world. I'll second that and add my thanks to Adrian for his excellent work. I borrowed some of his codes and found a few missing ones for my similar new Toshiba 40ZF355 TV. Once I've sorted the rest I'll start a new thread for this TV so other can find it quickly. Thanks again Richard
