How much work was it to wire/install them? Did you install the actual glass or work with a glass company. Super cool.

Contractor supplied the window frames and installed the glass.  Wiring is easy, power runs from leads on the glass to a remote transformer.

No... no lighting control at this job.  Embarrassed to say it's just a regular light switch wired to the transformers.

Sat down last night in my new theater and watched TV as loud as I wanted. I'm using a temporary projector, don't have carpet yet and stole a love seat from my family room, but it was a year of my life finishing this room and I thoroughly enjoyed the time.

Well, hurry up and finish it or you might end up like me in a room 5 years later and still no carpet, bare walls and old couches. Oh, and I have empty boxes raising my free standing speakers 20" off the floor.
So you know you'll be busy if you ever make it out here :-)

Been swamped trying to tie up loose ends on our hotel project. Here is a job we finished last year, but just shot today. Nice remodel with 2 car garage converted to theater.

Theater features Epson 5020, AT screen, Triad Gold LCR, Triad CinemaPlus subs with Lutron drape and Grafik Eye for control. Cinematech seats with Kinetics acoustics.

Family Room has small rack with Vienna speakers. House music is via inwall iPad and Sonos. Alarm is alarm.com with Wirepath camera app.

mwstorch, Fantastic job. I have a couple of questions. What did you use for control other than sonos app and so on?

Also, How did you determine the height of the ipad control on wall? I personally think that is the perfect height. I guess it will eliminate small kids or wives or husband from using it but did you ask them about height? This is always something we debate here at the shop.

Great job man

Thanks, NEZBO.

No fancy (read: custom, buggy, expensive, service-hog) control. I believe in manufacturer-developed and supported apps (flame away!). TV remotes are MX850, music is Sonos app, alarm.com is alarm.com app, cams are Wirepath app, TSTAT is nest app.

Height of inwall iPad is 60" on center AFF. This is our basic default height, but on many jobs we just ask the customer to stick out his finger and touch the wall and then measure it.

Incredible!

What brand in-wall ipad dock is that?

Damn those are nice seats!

Looks like Kinergistics acoustical panels? Which projector?

Great looking work Mike!  Theater turned out really classy looking.

I'm jealous... I've only done one dedicated theater in the last year and it was small and all the acoustic treatment got axed.

I love that a job like that has an Epson 5020 and an MX-850. Seriously, love it.

Me, too actually. Believe it or not, the customer had very definite ideas about the electronics budget. I gave a lot of thought to the best performance for the money and am happy with the final result.

Interestingly, though, when the customer visited my studio, he decided to upgrade the budget for the theater design (not electronics) and we wound up adding the seats, acoustics, lights including all cans, step lights and blue cove, the drape track and the Grafik Eye.

These "design" adds turned out to be a larger budget (with more margin) than the original electronics system. This was a big lesson learned and I am now discussing all aspects of theaters with customers, not just the electronics.

I'll also say that having a working demo of a similar theater really helped me sell this job.

Makes some sense since the acoustics and design of the room can last 20 years where the electronics will be obsolete in less than 5.
