Mowed my acre of weeds, then mowed my new neighbors acre of weeds too (he doesn't have a mower yet, so I figured why not...).

Then ran the trimmer around the yard junk (he can do that part himself...lol.).

I've determined I really do need a smaller yard....

I finally got some of the new Triads in to play with. Big thumbs up. You can read my blog entry about it here [Link: wiremunky.com]

FYI these speakers are sort of close together because their are huge pocket doors on either side. The room is huge. I would have liked to spread them apart further. They were originally supposed to be in the ceiling but the ID put a stop to that.

Here are some (poorly lighted phone) pics...

Do you use that technique a lot?  Where you're keeping the speakers close to the floor?  I have a habit of always looking up, but I could certainly see where this could come in handy on ocassion.

Im assuming for whole house audio it doesn't effect the sound too much.  Very interesting.

I NEVER want speakers low on the wall because furniture always ends up in front of it. This is the result of the ID "running the show". I prefer to always have stereo speakers in the ceiling. Its the easiest/best IMO way to position them properly for beds/sofas etc. I personally love to look at speakers in the wall but clients dont. The ceiling is the perfect place to put them because no one ever stares at the ceiling.

Want music at the entry?

"No. Nothing in the ceilings or walls. Put the speakers in the coat closet."

Wha? Okay i guess...

Want music in the dining room.

"No. Nothing in the ceiling or walls. Put the speakers in the vestibule outside of the dining room."

Wha? Are you sure?

Want speakers in the living room? You know... the room where you will have everyone while entertaining?

No. Nothing in the ceilings or walls.

We had to put our foot way down on this one and get the client involved. The next step would have been putting the speakers out on the deck and having to have the door open during parties.

You should've told her that her choice of paint didn't go with your Triads, and that the whole house would need to be repainted.

I don't like the word hate, and I don't like to stereotype people, but in general 2 groups of people that I can't stand to talk to for more than 2 minutes at a time are Interior Decorators and Engineers.

Nice work btw.  Do you have a hole saw for every occasion?

Know the feeling with regard to the ID idiots.

One house I did the simpleton got the client to force the issue on the LR speakers, so they ended up down low, and BEHIND the huge overstuffed sofa....

In the FR the simpleton placed furniture in such a way that the French doors to the deck couldn't be opened, so if one wanted to go out onto the deck, one had to go through the garage and around the side of the house...

These days I will politely refuse to go along with these idiotic demands. I place speakers were they need to be, or they don't get put in by me....

Those Triads do look good. Sound as good as thet look?

The non-woman variety can be even more difficult to deal with :-)

Went to look at why an older syxtem was no longer working after the THREE different DTV installers were on the job.

Here's what they left behind:

[IMG][/IMG]

Wiring in the cabinet all undone (had been bundled up with velcro) HDMI run up over the mantle, Power cord run up over the mantle, coax entended out the front of the cabinet, and no connection to the AVR.

That's a JVC HD'ila (720k/1080i input) so a simple re-connection to the Component video cables would have made sense, and had the system up and running.

But noooooo! Due to being ignorant, they made the mess, and then told client they HAD to run the HDMI cable or nothing would work.

Then they left, and nothing worked....

It's working out well for me though. The client would like to upgrade things.
