I came home early Wednesday with what I thought was the flu. None of the drugs were working and I was just getting worse, so instead of being stubborn, I had my wife take me to an emergency clinic. Turns out I have bronchitis, possibly pneumonia. Five prescriptions later, I'm going to have a fun weekend.

I think I have allergies. I've been sneezing for days, and I'm leaking out of few holes... no sickos, the nose. :-)

Not sure if I'm going to make it or not. Just depends on how good a job these drugs do by then.

donated some tme today to the [Link: equestrianconnection.org] and got the audio system back up and running. This system is currently a disaster, with a bandaid. I am now in need of some budget friendly suggestions for a 3 zone audio only system that I can plug an iPod dock into, CD player and a microphone (public address)

I'm thinking the FIRST thing I would have asked is that the glass art be removed from the areas where I were to messing around.
Me being the bull in a china shop, things would go badly.... The job with the glass art went from a 2 day job to a 3 day job and then the AVR crapped out at the end of the day yesterday when I was giving instruction to the client! First delay was the client's cabinet guy who didn't show up to do the planned cabinet modifications so I went out and got materials and took care of it. Second problem was chasing down an intermittent issue with one of the ceiling speakers. They are pre-existing motorized KEF speakers that drop down. Found the speaker wires had been pinched and broken off up inside the speaker. Will have to go back again next week to replace the AVR and finish up, but haven't broken the glass yet. I asked about removing the wall hanging glass when I did the initial walk through back in December and was told that it was more risky to take it down. The wall is double framed with welded steel plate and pipes that come out of the wall to secure the glass... kind of an interesting setup how it's attached. I'm guessing you could buy a nice new car for what that piece is worth? To be honest, I didn't notice the smaller bowl shaped piece next to the rack until I was on-site and starting work. At that point the client wasn't home and I didn't want to take the chance of moving it myself so have just been really careful working next to it. Here's a picture of the finished rack. Not really a rack, it's the Middle Atlantic ASR slide out and rotate shelves... didn't have enough width for the SRSR.

Fiasco, that really is impressive.
Paul, can the space above or below the TV be used for storage, or more rack space? Maybe for CD/disc storage, or a media server?

Paul, can the space above or below the TV be used for storage, or more rack space? Maybe for CD/disc storage, or a media server? There is a lot of space in there (including about 25" of depth behind the TV), but the client isn't really interested in more storage. Most of the existing drawers are empty. Below is a different photo with the cloth scrim panel removed. Above the TV is a hanging shelf for the center channel speaker and the top two drawers under the TV (removed in this photo) are just false fronts that allowed access to get the previous rear projection TV in & out. The three drawers under the rack are also false and swing open to reveal the sub that fires through the bottom vent. I've got exhaust fans on the TV & rack side that pull from the bottom vents and exhaust out the top side for cooling. The same company that originally built the cabinets 13yrs ago is going to rebuild the scrim panel to fit around the new TV dimensions. I'll try to get back for some good photos once everything is complete.

Nice work as always, Paul.
Today we started our biggest prewire of 2012 so far. 8 zones of HD video, 9 stereo audio zones, two 5.1 systems, 4 cameras, alarm & structured wiring. Every subcontractor imaginable is on site today. It's a mess.

cshepart, good to hear!
GOM scrim, Paul? Wood frame, you constructed?
Similar cabinet, in my home. Empty, ugly space above the display. Center channel below, on a shelf. Thanks for the tip, may move it up.
