How is bitwise? is it a viable control system for commercial environments? Nope, no video conferencing. That's not a Samsung, it's a 70" Sharp. I really like Bitwise alot. I'm getting more and more comfortable with it, and am starting to expand what we do with it. The main reason I like Bitwise so much is because I can use an Ipad and completely customize the remote to the client without having any other brand name on the "remote" other than mine. We also do a couple things that I think are really neat. 1. I can set up a URL scheme so that if the client needs to email us, they just press our logo and voila, type up the email. Automatically addressed to me. 2. If it's an Iphone, they can press our phone number and make the phone call. 3. And what i personally think is the best part, I record a video tutorial, send it to a private youtube channel, and place the icon on the remote. Especially in commercial installations where there are alot of different users, I think this comes in handy. If they have a question about use, they can simply watch the 2-3 minute video. I really don't have any experience with any other "control system". Nobody, (Crestron, Control4) thinks I'm important enough to become a dealer, so I'm going to cram Bitwise down their throats. Bitwise will do anything I can think of without issue. Control of equipment (Socket,232,IR) , Lighting, HVAC, As far as I'm concerned, it's very stable. I've never had a service call in regard to the Bitwise system unless it was something that we missed in programming.

I stopped by a real tool store today. On the left side they had every tool you can imagine available for purchase. On the right side they rent every tool you can imagine. Out front they have a display of veto pro pac bags on a table. Boy oh boy are those open tops nice. If i didn't travel so much i would get one.

Almost knocked this out yesterday using mostly existing equipment including an HK AVR7300 which weighs more than the new 55" LED Sony. Head back today to tie up some wires and reprogram the MX3000 (and remove the old entertainment center, install dimmers, etc). Reused the speakers, power conditioner, receiver, record player (which sounds amazing), CD changer and added in a blu-ray and the HDTV. That harman kardon pumps out some incredible sound, I was pleased for simply updating a system.

Back in August i found the wheels i wanted for my 69 lincoln. Plan was to wait until spring to order them. Last night i was killing time searching craigslist for cars and wheels and found a set of them for $600. I am out of town so i asked my mom to pick them up for me. She haggled the guy down to $550 :). Can't wait to get home so i can install these...then put the car back in the garage :) Best Christmas Present Ever! Whip... Meet your new Kicks...

Today i got to move some speakers and decided to document it. The speakers were supposed to go in the ceiling but the brackets were pulled last minute and the wire was moved to the wall. This wall has pocket doors in it so the speakers are very close together. The whole room is 1/2" plywood and 5/8" drywall making the stud finder a stud liar. The white squares are where the speakers were supposed to go. Now a painting is going there so they had to be moved down or eliminated. This is before drywall. We always photograph walls/ceilings for situations just like this. This photo let me see where the speaker wire was and the horizontal 2X6 that blocks my path for moving the speaker. I got lucky on one speaker. Plywood on the wall behind it. After removing the plywood i was able to reach the wire and find my center point for the first speaker. This also gave me something to measure from to locate my second speaker. I used the 9.5" whole saw (that finally showed up today) to make 2 speaker cuts and 1 cut that allowed me to drill thru the 2X6 and reach the speaker cable. Normally i would go with a very small hole just above the 2X6 or try and drill up and fish the wire down but the speaker cable was stapled in a cross pattern and not long enough to be pulled down. I had to tape on a new piece of speaker cable at the first speaker, pull it all the way back to the second speaker. To do this i had to be able to get my arm in there and yank all those staples loose. I already had the hole saw ready to go so... I "reinstalled" the round piece of plywood and sheetrock in the access hole. Painter can patch it up tomorrow. And NO we don't put round speakers in walls :). We are planning to use these bad boys... I swapped out an OnQ ABUS type system to a proper multizone system (RTI AD-8 with some outboard amplification, custom programmed RK1-8s)
Original system was purchased far too early, even before meeting with us, by the customer in preparation for the new home. Against our advice he wanted to proceed with the installation once the time came. Once installed certain zones had interference, and all zones had the regular "decentralized" type performance issues. And of course you can't integrate it. We wired the house to be backwards compatible with a traditional multiroom system and it's a good thing because it was all utilized today.
Don't you love being right?
