I coerced Daniel to change my username to Mario; Yey me!

How difficult was that? I need to change mine.

Not really! We have to work around those tours and spend some pretty late nights there. Gets a tad freaky at times.

I can imagine it getting freaky there at night. You should take a tour, I have to say it is very interesting.

I went to a funeral for a friend who lost a five year battle with cancer. She was only 40, and truly one of the few sincere and good people that made this world a better place just by having a place in it. She left a 12 year old daughter and 8 year old son behind with her husband who is losing a fight with MS. Truly a sad day, but she is no longer in pain.

On the way to the funeral I had a flat tire while wearing a suit, two things that never happen. A Jehova's Witness stopped to help me change it.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the day. This is one of those days I will reflect on for the rest of my life.

If any of you guys go to church tomorrow, please say a prayer for Jen's family.
Hey, careful man, there's a beverage here!

Wow Dave, that really is a tough day for you. So sorry to hear of your loss. As an atheist, I don't pray, but you and your friend's family will be in my thoughts.

I know the type of person you're describing and you're right, they are very few and far between; a whole different caliber of what people normally describe as a "special" person.

As for me? I worked.

Sales are quiet so I did a clean and set-up on a nice Michell Gyro-Dec turntable. I love those jobs. It's so satisfying to put in the time to make sure everything is geometrically spot-on. Then, I get to sit and listen and squeeze a little more performance out of it by trimming the VTA, VTF etc. and hearing it change character. I'm an audio nerd, I'll be the first to admit, but I loved it. The client also dropped in the Delphini phono stage so I had a play around with the loading and gain adjustments on that, too. 3 hours later and it sounded magic once it was finished.

That sucks Dave, sorry for your loss.

Death is a natural part of life so it doesn't scare me. When old family and friends pass a way i miss them but the loss doesn't paralyze be because its expected. What destroys me is when people are snatched away too early like your friend @ 40. At 35 life is just beginning for many. I am 36 and i can't even imagine being told i have a fight like cancer in front of me. Now here husband is left with 2 children while he struggles with yet another debilitating disease. I don't mean to be morbid but now both of his children may be at risk for these same afflictions.

This is why its so important (everyone) that we direct our spare change towards curing these diseases. Today its not you but tomorrow it may be. Give when you can and some day we wont lose friends and families to cancer and ms or anything else. It may take a generation or two and we may not be around when it happens... but some day there will be a cure.

Sorry for your loss. Please let situations like this be a reminer to everyone, please have an estate plan in order. I don't much together right now but please take the time to covernthe basics. I can't imagine being in a situation with both parents battling a terrible illness. Life insurance is cheap and life is precious.

Wow Dave, that is a sad one. We moved my dad to a hospice about 2 weeks ago, and they told us my dad had 5 to 7 days to go. So to prepare for the end. Even though we knew it was coming it was still a living hell to go thru. Somehow he has made a 180 and we are moving him out of the hospice. He still needs full time care, but he seems comfortable, which is the most important part. His pancreas is damaged and failing so who knows how long he has...

So yesterday I rode Breckenridge, and today I am going to ride Keystone. Life is short, have fun with your loved ones!

Roddy, We've been through that not long ago with my sister and it can be tough to handle. When I told you if you need anything I meant it. More than just words.

Dave, You are right that you will reflect for the rest of your life, I lost my best friend to breast cancer a few years ago and you would be amazed at how many times I see her in a crowd or catch a glimpse of her walking down the street when shes not really there. She is always on my mind and I am a better person because of it. The memories you have will become your most prized possessions and somehow you will never feel that far away. Hang in there bro.

Not much actually, just costly.
I had to donate to RC's hosting fees for 3 months and buy Daniel a keg of beer at CEDIA when I see him again.  :-)

Get the URL from a photo in your portfolio and place it in your post and it will appear.

If the pic is something not loaded to your portfolio you can upload them to your Media folder at wordpress and get the URL from there.

Adding...

I am talking about the portfolio at your own website. I added this so all the new RC members aren't looking for a Media uploader in their profile :).

Today.

1. Exercise in the AM in a sad attempt to lose the extra calories I added at a family gathering yesterday.

2. Meet the wife for Mex at lunch which pretty much counteracted the morning silliness..

3. Went to the eye doctor right after lunch, had a couple (more) tests, and set a date for the first of a few surgeries (January).

Life's little pains can be a real PIA at times. But it's all good. I'm going to the beach. :-)
