Just got back from a jet boat dinner trip down the rogue river in southern oregon http://www.hellgate.com/all you can eat and drink!! Plenty of river boat spins and lots of water over the bow and in the laps of the passengers. It was my stepdads 70th birthday so we have a huge family group in the boat. the boat seats 81 and was filled up with 78. its about a 4 hour trip. 18 miles down the river into Hellgate ( river wild and a john wayne movie were filmed here) and then back up the river a mile for dinner. dinner was pretty good with BBQ ribs and chicken, vegatables, rolls and cornbread, salad, and desert was a berry cobbler. this was my kids first time down the river in the boats..had a blast. the first spin was a bit scary for them...something aboout pitching a 36' sled boat into a spin at 40mph is nerve racking for some.

Walked through a decent remodel job with the prewire crew from 7am to 9am, drove 1.5hr to 12 audio zone 2 video zone restaurant (about to open) job, until 10pm, took a short detour to another restaurant/hotel after close at 11pm to do some service work. Had a 50lb JBL Control 30 fall from 10ft while trying to reorient it. Broke a table and a sconce and some glasses. Finished at 2:30am and drove 1hr home. Back at work by 8 today...

Just got yet ANOTHER call of a T4 that died and needs repair...
::slams head on desk repeatedly::
Here I thought the walk-through of a 16 zone Sonos system with in-wall control would be my highlight today. Instead, loading up the "loaner" T2C to go keep them working pulls ahead.
Thank you RTI.

Do you sub contract the pre-wires? If so, how does it work for you and how did you find them? I have a couple large projects coming up and would love to be able to use a pre-wire contractor

We are a division of an electrical contractor so our Journeyman electricians do the prewires. I have been on both sides with another company though, where our team would do prewires in house. What I learned is that you can only be truly skilled in so many disciplines of the trade, and if you want prewire to be part of that, great, but it will likely mean compromises somewhere else. I think that's why so many of the great integrator outfits focus on everything else. I am at a point where if we were needing to find a different solution for prewires, I would sub it out and allocate resources to the aspects of the industry that really pay off.

Finished this job today. Please excuse photo quality. You can't see it, but behind the main sofa is a hightop table for 2 and a full bar in the corner. Great "lounge" room. Nice, basic job: Samsung 64 plasma Triad InWall Gold LCR, surround with Silver sub in rear corner MX900 Apple TV zone 2 out to house speakers LED bias light behind floating TV wall Apple wifi network I love these types of projects. For us it's "get in, get out, get paid." Very little service and the customers love it. We are installing fewer dedicated theaters and more "lounges" these days. I tried to get a projector and electric screen, but the customer said 64 was big enough. Too bad, 'cause it would have really improved the experience.

arrrrrgggghhhhh where is all the stuff I need!!!!
That's what I'm doing today, wondering where all the random parts I'm missing on like 5 different jobs are...
We keep a certain model subwoofer in stock and we sold one to a customer. By the time the job came around we didn't have any left and had already place an order to replenish. I'm loading up equipment for the job and ask where the sub is. Warehouse guy gets a puzzled look on his face.
That model sub was discontinued and replaced. No one called us or emailed us or did ANYTHING with our order. Nothing. Didn't tell us to order the replacement model, didn't automatically send us the replacement order. So now we order the replacement model. Days go by and it doesn't show up. Warehouse guy follows up and we faxed the order to them and got a confirmation (from the fax machine) but they say they never got it.
That story, tweaked slightly, x5.
