Sorry I missed the finished product earlier, Paul. Superb work. Just perfect.

I went back and spent some time at this job yesterday and today:
[Link: remotecentral.com]

Was there for two days about a month ago and dug into the remotes and started fixing problems with wiring, configuration, etc.

URC control consists of 12 MX-980s, 1 MX-3000, 1-KP-900, 4 MSC-400 and 6 RFX-250.  Got all the configs into one CCP file.

Have been focused on making things work, but have also been weeding out the wiring behind the racks.  Still not ready to show a photo of the back yet, but at least the equipment will push into the closet now and the doors will close.

There are four other rack locations on the property, but after taking a better look at them on my second visit, the others are in much better shape than I originally thought.

Spent the early afternoon re-configuring a clients router and his various pieces of iGear and laptops. Got to love clients who don't write their wifi information down and network guys that change the router default log in info.

I know the table came from Home Depot. It's a Husty folding work table/saw horse. I have a couple of them.

They were both from the jobsite.  The client was nice enough to pull them out of the garage for me.

The table folded up flat which was neat, but you couldn't really get your legs under it because of the center support.

I like how you used the loop method of wires. One of our techs does this and it allows for slack if you need it. I used to make all my racks look like perfection but no slack! I noticed the use of velcro as well, much better than zip ties!

Yes, I like to use the velcro and lace bars to loop wiring around a bit so there's some extra in there.

Equipment gets upgraded and moved around too often to cut every wire to length and zip tie the whole thing together.

I've learned this by going back to some of my earlier jobs and it can be a pain to cut everything loose from the zip ties and then you're still limited to short cables.

With my method now, it's quick and easy to undo the velcro and move equipment around when needed.

loop method = Velcro loops? or extra length for service loop?

Both = Service loops held in place with velcro

SB,

Great job on the beach house install. Love the custom rack solution. We stopped making our rack wiring look "perfect" after having to stretch wires for new equipment, etc.

Now, they look good, but, like your rack in the photo, have enough of a service loop to provide for MACs (moves, adds, changes).

Worked on this system for a buddy before the holiday. Added Sonos to an existing system, rewired, tweaked remote, etc. It's great to have friends that will accept used and old stock gear.

Photos show living room 2.1 system and rack with 2 ZP120's for master bath and kitchen. Blank shelf shows space for ZP90 to feed Crown amp for front yard speakers. Light from behind is from closet behind that gives us rear access to gear through a closet. Will return for ZP90s and 1/8" to 1/8" (many on order) for AVR and DVD hardwired IR.

Nothing special or unusual, but thought I'd get this thread back to page 1.

Are those Artcoustic speakers on each side of the display?

Awesome work SB.

Holy prewire-in-95-degree-weather, Batman! Although it barely got above 80 today, I've been working my tail off lately doing prewires. The retrofit jobs in between have been pretty labor intensive too. Next week is another prewire that will likely stretch into the following week as well. I guess all of the fall home parade projects are ready for us at the same time.

How has the past month or so been for you guys? In early June, I had no work for five of the ten business days in one pay period. Now we can barely keep up.

I worked downtown today at a new commercial job and got a $48 parking ticket for staying all day in a 90min zone.  The sign was about 12 feet in the air so I never even saw it!  Does this seem strange to anyone else that the sign is so high?  From inside the van all you see is the pole.

On the way home I stopped by another job and re-hung a Samsung LED above a fireplace where they had just finished the stone veneer. Very simple install with a nice result.  The hardy backer board behind the TV was painted flat black.

While on the subject of "racks", has anyone seen or tried these guys yet??

[Link: climatronix.com]

The local rep gave me a sample and it is very nice to "trim-out" a rack.

Thoughts.
