Yes, there are four of the 1230's under the cen-rgbhv32x32a for 24 rooms with audio. The theater has another rack with a adms, cnampx-7x200 and five 2300s.

Can you tell me the name of the couch manufacturer? Are the seats motorized?

DId a 8 channel CCTV retro-fit Friday/Saturday in a 3500 sq ft home. This was a returning client. He bought the 8 channel Lorex system from Costo, DVR built into the 23" monitor.
The cameras looked like crap for anything past 10' or with any movement. All the plants and shrubs blowing in the wind basically made for a big fuzzy image.
This was one of those jobs we just needed to make a little extra and get it done. His security company quoted him $800 for the entire install. This included, retro fitting the 8 cameras (all exterior stucco), ran to the Kitchen with the DVR/Monitor sitting on a granite counter top (no holes go down), full tile backsplash from counter to cabinet, installing a network line (i'm not 100% sure they included this in their quote), setting up for remote access via DDNS service on laptop and two iPhones.
The home is mostly one level except for the master suite on the 2nd level. Decent sized crawl space under entire home, except to cam's mounted off the garage, so had to get from crawl to garage attic.
Basically the deal was to stay as close to the $800 as possible. I eneded up with about 20 hours total for install (10 hours x 2 guys), with setup, clean up and demo.

Sofa, I feel your pain. It always seems like those are the jobs that always come back to haunt me. Seems that the saying no good deed goes unpunished always fits the customer that you try to help out that has a product or has bought one that needs help installing, especially if it's one of your good returning customers that is hard to say no to.

RE: the surveillance job: We have more and more customers saying they bought a DVR at costco and want the system installed. Have not proceeded with any as of yet for the reasons exactly as mentioned above. They are hesitant to pay more for installation than what the unit cost so it is a tough spot to be as an installer.
Been working on a house of worship. 200-300 seat sanctuary remodel. Bringing them into the modern world with FOH mic/monitor distribution system, DSP, Crestron controls including iPad and xPanel, HDMI distribution, HD projectors, etc. The biggest obstacles thus far have been rigging for speakers and projectors on the cathedral ceiling which is 35+ ft in most areas. Scissor lift is not an option as original floor will not support. This is also my first exposure to an induction loop system which apparently has a lot more traction in the UK. It is basically an assisted listening system where the amplified signal that goes through a very specific length, guage, and orientation of wire that t-coil equipped hearing aids can pick up on. Would be interested to see how these systems have worked for other companies out there if anybody has done them...

Assisted listening systems are used extensively over here. Thankfully Infra Red and RF systems are becoming more common place, especially as the giant coil of wire isn't always easy to retro fit. Sometimes you can bid a job with partial coverage using coils and this is acceptable but other places require complete coverage due to equal opportunity and discrimination considerations. Any public place with an amplified system should really have a hearing loop or similar fitted during any upgrades now to avoid a second upgrade as hearing assistance is mandated. Wireless speakers? Of course Sir. Choose the colour and size you like. As you don't seem to think sound quality is important, I will not plug them in. |

Hi Dawn,
Not sure of make/model of seating. It was supplied by the interior designer. It is not motorized. I normally use Cinematech motorized seats, but the client did not like the look for this room.

I recorded a conversation on my phone with a customer today so that when they come back to say that they never said that, I could play it back for them. They were fully aware of the recording. I never thought it would come to that but at some point you have to do what you have to do i guess. Anybody ever had to do this before?
If you customer is Bi-polar, you have to go to extreme measures I guess. I am not kidding either. Takes medicine for bi-polar. Not making fun. A serious issue for sure. Just never ran into this before.

Just never ran into this before. im actually going to have my phone tree greeting include "this call may be recorded" Unfortunately i am needing to do this due to certain customers, not sure if they have an actual disorder rather then being outa there [email protected]($^ minds. My lawyer first wanted me to do this after my customer and job from hell but i figured i would never run into someone as crazy again.......2 years later im having to do this now.

Completed Day 2 of the new 4 Day Intro To Crestron Class. I've picked up a couple new tricks. The next two days should be good. I'm signing up for Advanced System Builder next month.
I was hoping to get into the next Essentials class, but will be out of town at the time of the next class.

In the living room pic, we have invisible (AMENA) speakers flanking the nuvision mirror TV... I call it the Martha Stewart Area, (we tried to hide the technology for the "W.A.F." --- If you look at the theater pics, we installed led strip lighting inside the walls to show some of the speakers and acoustical diffractors and absorbers etc. Keith Yates worked with us on the acoustic layout and well, the overall design of the theater to insure optimum bass distribution etc. We have a cool powder-room style bath room with the Seurra TV / mirror.
oh, thanks for posting them Bryan!
