This is just spectactular.  Do you often work with the same carpenters and decorators?

Beautiful install & home though! Nice work.
SB looks great! Looks like the Panny 3000 or 4000 projector.

Thanks,

It is a nice place... tucked up in the hills.

Yes, the projector is an AE4000U.

The theater room turned out great using some mid-level gear.  Nothing fancy, but the finished result is a very good looking and sounding room:

Pany AE4000U projector
Denon AVR-3311CI
Denon Blu-ray
Boston Acoustic BT1 fronts
Artison surrounds
Velodyne sub
URC MX-900/MRF-350 Control

I do some work for a neighbor that has a theater that cost around 10 times as much (JVC RS1, Stewart, Lexicon, DVDO, etc.).  He stopped by for a demo and was very impressed.  I consider this install a very good value and the customer couldn't be happier.

I'm back in a couple weeks once the curtains are hung to do the Audyssey Pro calibration.

I do work with some of the same builders over and over (second project with the builder of this home).  The builders seem to bring in the same trades over and over if they continue to do good work so I do tend to work with the same electricians, carpenters & painters fairly often.

Interior decorators are usually chosen by the homeowner, so it's usually a new decorator for each job unless it's a decorator I worked with in the past that's brought me in as a referral.

I'd say 70-80% of the jobs I work on have decorators involved to at least some extent.  A lot of CIs bitch about working with decorators, but I don't mind it.  I know the end result will be something that I'll want to add to my portfolio.

Must be nice to have 63° in February. I woke up to -17°C ~ 2°F and will see the first day above freezing since November by the end of the week.

Today I created a .BAT file for a USB key to run xPanel from the main dir of the key. Wrote 3 user manuals, one for setting up a router and the other two were how to connect to the iphone, ipad apps for Crestron. Then wrote an email to a potential client outlining the TPMC-9 and the ADMS faceless unit. Then had an hr or so of time left and spent that programming an ipad for a customer.
You can't fix stupid

Yes but 63° around here is damn near hunker down and break out the extra blankets weather.

I've been slowly getting through the photos from another job.  Posted some quick pictures of this one before... it was completed just before Christmas.

While there is no doubting the work and home are incredible (they are fantastic), I am calling BS (or should I say PS) on the daytime quality of the image. Not that you were trying to fool anyone here because we all know better but if you are achieving that image quality during the day than I am doing something wrong.

On that note, how do they watch during the day?

Just read through it. Great info.

However, I dont think that can account for the full color image on the screens. Ive looked at a few of the pics. Looks shopped to me. Especially considering the multitude of familiar images used on the screens.

Mr Stanley has posted pictures! Admittedly by accident, but nontheless, an excellent start.

I went and saw Billy Conolly on Tuesday night with the bride for Valentines days. Needless to say I nearly coughed by lungs up laughing. If you get the chance, and you don't mind a lot of 'strong language' get yourself to one of his shows, before it is to late.

Not to drag this into the dirt because I really was just messing around but I have read the link you keep referring to and I dont see where it says anything about the images on the screen.

It's a combination of things...

The photos are taken with multiple exposures on a tripod.  These pictures were taken with 5-7 shots all bracketed 1 f-stop apart (my camera can do this automatically).  I also use a hot light and occasionly a flash to eliminate some shadows.

Once you have the bracketed exposures, they are sent into HDR software (I use Photomatrix) which creates an image with wide dynamic range.

This is what makes an image closer to what your eye can actually see.  The best example of this is being able to see the view out the windows.

From here it goes to Photoshop for additional work to crop, correct verticals & color, sharpen, add TV images, etc.

In some cases, the HDR software doesn't do a good job with the windows and I pick the photo with the best exposure for the view out the window and then layer multiple images in photoshop.  This takes more time, but can provide a better result.

It's a fairly involved process and takes time.  At this job I spent almost 3 hours setting up and taking the photos and then another 3-4 hours processing the images.

My bigger curiosity was how do they watch TV during the day? I think I read somewhere shades were to be installed. Im sure that would help.

It's true... when it dips into the 50's here at night I'll see people in full winter coats with gloves and hats!
