I'm doing another project with door hidden in bookcase (3rd one of these now). Stopped by the job this morning to see the installed cabinets and talk through a few details with the cabinet maker. Bookcase swings open to access a room behind the screen. Components will be installed on shelving inside the cabinet below the screen with all the wiring accesible from behind. LCR speakers are located above screen Should be installing this one in 6-8 weeks... Finished this one up too... kind of a rush job to complete before the holidays. Really nice budget system. Equipment was only around $9K and with labor totalled under $13K. • Panasonic 4000U • Denon 3311CI • Denon BDP-1611UD • Boston Acoustic BT1 LCR • Artison LRS Surrounds • Velodyne sub • URC MX-900/MRF-350

WOW...i was looking foward to seeing this one completed! it seriously doesn't look like a budget job! As far as what i did today....Did a project that im still working on. Im matching my lime green mirrorcaps and painting the calibers..... Ill stick to AV :) before someone gets after me for not pulling them off, its taped up really really good. i actually spent 5 hours last night cleaning and taping them off. (they only have 270some miles so the brake dust and stuff came off really easily!) 3 coats of self etching primer 6 coats of high temperature 2 part paint as of now 1 coat of clear but im going to do 3 or 4 more [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] those preval spray bottles work really good! especially for auto paint and clear coat

SB Your work is awesome. That built-in looks stellar. Thanks, but if it's the built-in projector box you're refering to, I can't take all the credit. The cabinet guys built it, the painters painted it... all I did was provide the dimensions and then bolt the finished box to the wall. I agree that it turned out well and it looks a lot more custom than hanging the projector from a standard mount or placing it on a shelf.

When you do your brakes for the first time you can take them off and paint them again anyway.

Cnd Weasel... tell me a little bit about those horn speakers. I don't do high end stuff, so don't even know what they are or who makes them. Thanks, They are avantgarde Duo Primo's. http://www.avantgarde-acoustic.de/

SigSV, Did you finish up your painting project? Sure did! it was a ton of work but its worth it. Sorry for the crappy pics it was starting to snow pretty hard and i didnt want to get out my good camera. whats really cool is, my rims are black multi-spoke sowhen they are moving all you see are the calibers.... Next project is debadging the back, reflector delete (under the tail lights) and removing the rear wipers...stupid things are hideous. but because they are built within the door and i dont have the money to have someone bondo/shave the doors im going to find two plastic plugs plastidip them and paint/clear them to the body color to help them blend in. that way its not just two plastic plugs. should be an interesting project, I had an 06 mini with the rear wiper built into the window so it was much easier. Spend the first few hours troubleshooting a modem-phone/gate/security line that wasn't working correctly....figured that out.
Went out to add to Ubiquit AP's to the home network, ran 5 new LAN lines from the rack switch to the SP to connect to the house wiring.
Troubleshot a lift trigger that was working properly....fixed it with a new 3.5 cable/connector.
Updated the Prodigy programming, connected and test the Ethereal HDMI Balun.
Confrimed everything was working.
Tidied up the cabling around the lift and rack. rolled the rack back in. Tunred on....no picture.
Spent next 2 hours with two guys troubleshooting HDMI connection/balun/Cat6 cables, etc...........no solution found.
SPent the next hour switching back to component, making some crossover Cat cables to switch from hdmi calun to component balun, modified prodigy programming for component input.
Left at 7:30 or so.

Left at 7:30 or so. I feel your pain. With component or composite video one of the last things I do is connect the actual cables. Ive always preferred stacking the gear and installing all parts. This was never a problem because the analog video stuff just worked. Now with HDMI, I feel like I have to test everything before wire managing etc. Sucks. However, I have had a lot of luck recently with the Snap single balun HDMI stuff. Very nice. BTW, did anyone see that "cloth" HDMI cable at Ethereal?

SB, is that a fire sprinkler above the projector? yikes! Yes, not only is there a sprinkler right above the projector, but theres an HVAC vent right above that! I wasn't concerned about the projector getting wet if there was a fire (there would be bigger problems to worry about), but I did voice my concern about possibility of the heat from the projector or vent setting off the sprinkler. Fire guy said its rated at 155° and I didn't register temps above 85° with an infared thermometer after having the projector on for 3+ hours. Projector vents out the front so all the hot air is directed away from the sprinkler. I'm not sure how hot the air is coming out of a central air vent, but that's not my problem :)
